TurningPoint Energy and Nexamp Launch $100M Community Solar Projects in Delaware TurningPoint Energy (TPE) and Nexamp have announced a new collaboration to expand clean energy access through two community solar projects totaling nine megawatts (9MW) in Delaware’s New Castle and Sussex counties. Set for completion in 2025, this community solar portfolio demonstrates TPE’s commitment to investing over $100 million in Delaware’s community solar market. TPE developed the projects under Delaware’s community solar program, while Nexamp will build, own, and operate them long-term. Delmarva Power customers in Delaware will have the opportunity to receive discounts on their electric bills, with 15% of each project’s capacity reserved for low-income customers. Mammoth North Solar Project Celebrates Upcoming Commercial Operations. Doral Renewables celebrated today, July 9th, the upcoming beginning of commercial operations of its Mammoth North Solar project, a major segment of the Mammoth Solar project. The company was joined by Indiana’s Secretary of Commerce David Rosenberg, landowners, representatives from SOLV Energy, Nextracker, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the American Clean Power Association (ACP), and other industry leaders and project stakeholders. The 400 MW Mammoth North Solar project will soon be the largest operating solar installation in Indiana and can provide sustainable energy to 75,000 households annually. 🌞🔌✨ 31 Years of Solar Innovation: Celebrating Project Aurora ✨🔌🌞 2024 marks the 31st anniversary of Project Aurora, Australia's pioneering grid-connected solar PV project, just 5 km from Melbourne's GPO. Launched by Brunswick Electricity Supply, it featured a 3.6 kW BP Solar Solutions photovoltaic array and a 10 kW Bergey/Westwind wind turbine, integrated into the local grid with a Butler Solar/Siemens Sunshine, 3-phase, grid-interactive inverter. Project Aurora set a precedent for community involvement in renewable energy, inviting individuals to buy into solar for grid connection and receiving payment for their electricity contribution. This initiative marked the beginning of Australia's remarkable journey in solar energy scalability and sustainability. Across June 12-13, IPA Senior Program Manager for Illinois Solar for All Jennifer Schmidt spoke on a panel at the Wood Mackenzie Solar & Energy Storage Summit in San Francisco. The panel, titled “Infrastructure-as-a-Service Business Models for Community Solar” explored community solar as a means for ensuring that the benefits of the renewable energy transition are reaching limited and moderate-income households. This discussion also shed some light on how federal policies and funding play a critical role in the growth of renewable energy. The panel discussion particularly highlighted how the U.S. EPA Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund is going to support and catalyze expansion of solar access to low- and moderate-income communities.
