Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a condition where the immune system attacks the brain and spinal cord, causing vision problems, tiredness, trouble walking and keeping balance, and numbness or weakness in the arms and legs. People of all ages can be affected, but it is more common in young adults and in females. Let's raise awareness and support those having MS. #WorldMSDay #McCannHealthMiddleEast

Ever felt like you are finding it difficult to find words? That's just one symptom of the enigmatic condition known as Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Understanding MS is the first step towards fighting it. It's a condition where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks the protective covering of nerves, disrupting the flow of messages from the brain to the rest of the body. This can lead to a wide range of symptoms, from fatigue and numbness to difficulty walking and vision problems. With Fortis, let's spread awareness, offer support, and strive for a future where MS is no longer a puzzle to be solved, but a challenge to be overcome. #WorldMultipleSclerosisDay #AtFortisWeCare #FortisHealthcare

Director, Bike MS - Partnering with individuals and corporations who are passionate about creating a world free of MS.
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society exists to connect everyone affected by multiple sclerosis with the information, resources and support they need to move their lives forward. MS symptoms vary from person to person. They may include fatigue, mobility challenges, cognitive changes and vision issues. These symptoms can make it difficult to do things like see words on a screen, navigate a webpage or process large amounts of information. The Society recently launched the new nationalMSsociety.org website, which is specifically designed for people affected by multiple sclerosis. https://lnkd.in/gdSx66zz #multiplesclerosis #resourcesforms #MSresearch

Recovery of TBI requires multidisciplinary intervention. Studies have shown that educational therapy and counseling enhance the release of acetylcholine, serotonin and BDNF (brain derived neurotrophic factor) that improves recovery and neural connectivities across important brain structures such as cerebral cortex, amygdala and hippocampus. Each case of TBI is unqiue. Proper assessment is advisable prior to any intervention. There are up to 50 million new cases of Traumatic Brain Injury each year worldwide. It is also the leading cause of death and disability in young adults. Overall, the global economic burden of TBI is estimated at 400 billion USD. Minimising the devastating effects of TBI doesn’t rely solely on reducing the risk of an injury; it’s also essential to improve treatment after one has happened. For that, Professor Arminas Ragauskas has helped design non-invasive devices that advance the care of #patients with #braininjury. Finally getting around to watching the brilliant webinar on Interoception and Chronic Pain from the amazing Kelly M. Understanding Interoception: The Key to Body Awareness Interoception refers to our ability to perceive and interpret signals from within our bodies. For individuals dealing with chronic conditions such as chronic pain, chronic fatigue, post-viral fatigue, POTS, dysautonomia, hypermobility syndromes, and neurodivergent brains, interoception can be significantly altered. This altered sense can impact how these individuals experience and manage their health and well-being. Recognizing and addressing these changes in interoception is crucial for providing effective support and care. #interoception #invisibleillness #dysautonomia #chronicpain #chronicfatigue #fibro #cfs #crps #EDS #POTS #hypermobility #healthrive

Founder - The Purpl Company, passionate about helping offset the hidden costs that come from living with a disability
Every disability has its own ups and downs and living with MS definitely feels like a rollercoaster at times. BUT the one thing that everyone in the disabled community experiences regardless of their disability is the extra cost burden. For me those cost come from things that help my MS stay stable whether that be extra heating costs, food to meet my dietary requirements, supplements, holistic therapies and equipment to help aid mobility and help my body reduce spasticity. My mission is to help my community offset those costs through Purpl #MSAwarenessWeek #MS #Disabled #Disabled
