Last week i found out that I was number #19 most influential people on Linkedin, based out of Singapore. To me this is important because of the fact that I mostly share things related to global value chains and the people who run them. And make the world go round!! So by extrapolation this means there are quite a lot of people interested in the topic. And my interest is that we continue to share with the world why operations, supply chain, logistics, procurement, manufacturing are such interesting topics. And so relevant for all of us, and especially in the context of achieving our Sustainability goals! Which are all linked to global value chains being more sustainable and circular. Despite vacancy rates inching upward, the industrial sector remains one of the least volatile real estate sectors over the long-term as short construction times allow supply and demand to remain relatively stable. On the demand side, population growth is expected to continue to drive demand - it is estimated that for every new person added, a metro area needs 30 square feet of more industrial space - and on-shoring could potentially increase demand even further. While ESG serves as a comprehensive assessment tool for gauging an organization's sustainability and ethical performance, it often remains elusive to many. To demystify this acronym, the essence of ESG in the context of supply chain and logistics can be distilled into a simpler triad: (E)lectronifying & (E)lectrifying the Supply Chain, emphasizing digital transformation and sustainable energy use; (S)ecuring the Supply Chain, underscoring the paramount importance of robust security measures; and (G)reening the Supply Chain, highlighting initiatives aimed at environmental sustainability. This distilled perspective aims to provide a clearer understanding of the tangible and pressing aspects of ESG within the intricate tapestry of #supplychainmanagement.
