I help keep *employees* out of the Emergency Room, and help keep *employers* out of the Courtroom & the Newsroom.
Next month I am honored to be presenting to museum directors from the Oklahoma Museums Association. I have at least one other large state museums association also interested, so there seems to be a common thread here. I absolutely *LOVE* working with the association world! Reason being, I often have to speak in generalities as most in a general audience will have a wide range of interests related to risk, but when you speak to a specific industry or profession with very niche specific risks, it just allows for much greater focus and strategies to be offered. If you represent #associationmanagement for a professional #nonprofitorganization I'd love to have a conversation with you as there are many points of potential customization, not only for the obvious need, but for potential ongoing customization and even association branding. Certainly, it's worth a conversation. I know someone who can help. #defensebydesign #associations #nonprofitmanagement #conferencespeaker

Memorabilia and the future Memorabilia can be a way to preserve our memories for future generations. They can help our children and grandchildren to learn about our lives and our experiences. For example, a person might create a scrapbook or photo album of their childhood. This scrapbook can help their children to learn about their parents' lives and to see what their parents were like as children. Similarly, a person might donate their memorabilia to a museum or historical society. This can help future generations to learn about the past and to see how people lived in different times. Memorabilia can be a valuable way to preserve our memories and connect with others. They can help us to understand our past, our identity, and the world around us.

"That got me thinking about this moment and the crisis that brought us together this week with participants from the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the U.K., France, Australia, and elsewhere, along with an influential cadre of Israeli funders, leaders, and practitioners. The assault on Israel and the ongoing war have resulted in a huge upsurge in philanthropic commitment. More than a billion dollars already from North America alone, continuing a proud tradition of Diaspora Jewish support in times of strife. But it’s different this time. Strife is a very real fact of life for Jews across the Diaspora, too, as soaring antisemitism has created a climate of fear and uncertainty. Philanthropy has a part to play in this part of the crisis, too, and it’s already responding, but our problems are not simply matters of money, programs, or infrastructure. They are also a function of personal and communal fortitude, resilience, and determination—attributes not always a strong suit. There’s the rub. This is precisely the way we describe Israelis—time after time throughout the years, but perhaps never more than during these last terrible months. So, the JFN conference, which gathered funders in Israel to help shape their understanding of where and how they can assist with the recovery work to come in Israel, also provided a gathering place for Israelis who have a unique understanding of Diaspora Jewry." Read today's Shabbat message from Doron Krakow, president and CEO of JCC Association of North America.

The recent State of the Arts report has concluded that the UK lags far behind our European counterparts in terms of arts funding. As Lord Melvyn Bragg explains: “The State of the Arts report finds that the United Kingdom has one of the lowest levels of government spending on the arts and culture among the European nations. Local government funding and arts subject entries at GCSE have both almost halved since 2010. The areas are being systematically undermined and devalued and incompetently treated. It’s a disgrace.” It is well-documented that art improves health and wellbeing. Yet, despite high levels of engagement with the arts post-pandemic, provision has reduced, with major disparities in funding and access across the UK. Paintings in Hospitals is committed to making art available to everyone in need. Our work brings people and communities together, providing vital emotional support and social connections that build resilience, spark creativity, and create a sense of belonging. Follow us for updates and find out more about how we use art to improve people's health and wellbeing. #creativehealth #art #healthandwellbeing #charity #paintingsinhospitals #stateoftheartsreport #campaignforthearts Campaign for the Arts Sandra Bruce-Gordon FRSA Lucy Smith Rebecca Hamlin Edmund Connolly

The Pathways Program is about sector change - to help make arts, culture, and heritage spaces safer for the humans who work, volunteer, and participate in the arts. From the people who are leading change within our sector, to the ones that want to spark change but don’t know where to begin, the Pathways Program offers a learning-to-action approach to support systems change within your organization’s specific context. In recent years, our sector has worked to become more equitable and just, but there is far more we need to do individually, in our organizations, and at a sector level. This work is ongoing and requires intentional steps to take statements and values into action. The Pathways Program seeks to bring together a community of learners to make a shared commitment to implementing principles of equity and access in arts, culture, and heritage organizations in BC. On June 25th we are excited to share more information about this program, guidelines for applying, and a timeline for the 2024/2025 program. Visit www.manypathways.ca to join our mailing list. —------ Image Description: A white square featuring the Pathways Program logo at the bottom. Text at the top reads: "Want to learn more? Register for our upcoming info session: June 25th, 2pm PDT." Behind the text is an image of a country path, with a green field on the left side, a row of trees on the right, and sun shining through a cloudy sky. BC Museums Association, Rural Arts Inclusion Lab, GVPTA Theatre and Arts BC’s logos are featured bottom right. #Pathways #ArtsBC #BCArtsCouncil #BCMuseumsAssociation #GVPTATheatre #RuralArtsInclusionLab #BCArts #BCNonprofit #NonprofitArts #CommunityArts #Equity #Accessibility #Nonprofit #NonprofitLeadership #ProfessionalDevelopment #SectorChange
