What a day! Cambridge is the tech superpower it is, but even so the number of times AI was named as the vital key to scale up was remarkable. The only missing link: how do we speed up that adoption process and help people actually use it and figure out how to get value from it. Atheni Strategy exists for that reason and Louise and I got tons of ideas today as we scale our SaaS product 🏋️♀️ Hugely insightful tips and comments from the great and the good: Sherry Coutu CBE ‘s was jam packed - every word a nugget of gold for founders like us. Hermann Hauser ‘s inspirational story which agreed with Sherry that companies having AI integrated in a big way in their operations is a prerequisite for their investment. 15mins flew with Yuval Dvir ‘s insights from his journey from Skype to Google and @sandbox and beyond. And the Liam and Noel of scale up Stan Boland Martin Frost CBE each telling their scale up stories topped off the morning. 🌍DeepL expands to the US with a new tech hub in New York City. DeepL has announced the opening of its first US Tech Hub in New York, marking a significant investment to accelerate its growth in the region. “Launching DeepL’s first US tech hub in New York City positions us at the centre of one of the largest talent pools,” said CEO Jaroslaw (Jarek) Kutylowski, highlighting plans to double the office size in the next year. The New York office will focus on research and product development, supporting a growing base of US customers, including partnerships with 50% of the Fortune 500 and top firms like Zendesk and Coursera. In addition to the new hub, DeepL strengthened its leadership with two new executives: Sebastian Enderlein as CTO and Steve Rotter as CMO. Enderlein expressed excitement about DeepL’s mission to address language barriers, calling it "a massively exciting opportunity." This expansion comes amid a period of rapid growth for DeepL, with the company unveiling updates to its Glossary feature and launching a next-generation large language model, which outperforms competitors like GPT-4. DeepL recently secured $300 million in funding, valuing the company at $2 billion. We believe that deep tech will be a major basis of growth and value creation in developed countries. Deep tech is already starting to become the prerequisite to exponential growth for many organizations. As the focus of value creation migrates from the traditional, physical world to the digital universe, deep tech offers a multitude of opportunities to companies of various industries. Even still, we must not take this opportunity for granted. We must prepare ourselves for the next evolutionary stage of the economy by developing the necessary tools and technologies. Here is a brief look at a few of our innovations.

Since the beginning of time, we have relied on our instincts, our grit, quite a bit of luck, and the knowledge of the collective to survive and navigate our societies. Truthfully, we can learn a lot about the art of simplicity from these old-school ecosystems. The digitization of information changed the game.   While technology enhances efficiency, it creates complexity. There is an influx of information with the emergence of the Internet and now, AI. Yet, we haven’t invested in systems that ensure we can easily move within these modern ecosystems. To make sense of it all, we rely heavily on our modern-day sherpas. Our most important institutions, such as local and state governments, universities, associations, and nonprofit leaders. We expect them to find all the precise information we need to solve our problems. But how can they do that without a deep understanding of their ecosystem? Thinking back to the old-school method - we need to simplify. That’s why we’re committed to building Ecosystem Intelligence, ensuring that institutions can seamlessly connect ecosystem activity to outcomes, analyze their ecosystems, understand them, and provide them with accurate, curated data.
