This incident serves as a reminder of the potential hazards lithium-ion batteries pose, not just in everyday devices but also in high-performance sports settings. Lithium-ion batteries are integral to modern technology, offering high energy density and long life. However, their susceptibility to overheating can lead to fires, posing significant risks. Hobart is currently hosting over 600 road safety professionals, researchers, and academics from across the globe as they attend the annual Australasian Road Safety Conference.   The conference aims to shape the future of road safety across Australasia by providing a platform for the best minds to share and explore the latest developments and innovations aimed at reducing road fatalities and serious injuries.   The theme for the conference this year is, 'Target 2030: What's the pathway forward?', which coincides with Tasmania's goal of reducing the number of fatalities on Australian roads by 50 per cent and serious injuries by 30 per cent by 2030.   Eric Abetz, Minister for Transport, said, "Approximately 300 people are seriously injured or killed on Tasmanian roads each year, and while this is an 80 per cent reduction from over 50 years ago, there is still more to do."   "Hosting the ARSC is a fantastic opportunity for Tasmania to hear from experts in the field, as well as showcasing our support for reducing road trauma through research, investment, programs, and technological advancement." Attended the NEBOSH webinar on road safety to commemorate World Day for Safety and Health at Work on April 28th. The webinar is a collaboration between RoSPA and NEBOSH, and features Dee Arp, NEBOSH's Chief Operating Officer, and Karen McDonnel, RoSPA's OSH Policy Advisor. Providing a ‘bigger, better and brighter’ space, the new concourse is the size of eight #tennis courts and has created 500m2 of extra space in the existing station concourse.
