Returning companies, more exhibitors, greater internationality and additional areas at gamescom 2024 Interest in gamescom 2024 is high, with organisers reporting ten per cent more exhibitors than at the same point in 2023. 2K, Blizzard Entertainment and Electronic Arts (EA) will return, while The Pokémon Company will make its gamescom debut. This year also sees the introduction of the cards & boards area with Hasbro, Konami Digital Entertainment, Pegasus Spiele, Ravensburger and Ulisses Spiele, as well as the Social Stage. The event becomes increasingly international. "After the strong growth last year, we are heading for new records at this year's gamescom with even more exhibitors and even more international participation," says Tim Endres, Director of gamescom. "One thing is already clear: gamescom 2024 will once again be the games festival of superlatives. What is particularly striking is that gamescom is becoming even more international," says Felix Falk, Managing Director of game – Verband der deutschen Games-Branche e.V., co-organiser of gamescom. https://lnkd.in/extRMu9d

I am building a retro gaming event... with zero event experience. 😬 Over the last five years Retro Dodo has created content for tens of millions of retro gamers to consume digitally, but the time has come to create something physical for our community. 👾 We want to bring the UK's best gaming vendors, exhibitors, content creators and brands under one roof to celebrate retro gaming culture and to create a family friendly event to learn and explore the history of video games. 🕹 Building a retro gaming website in an era of media goliaths, artificial intelligence, copy cats and forever changing algorithms is hard, but I believe Retro Dodo's biggest advantage is our community. So, building an event that brings our community together, to shake hands with industry folk, to advertise our book series and collaborate with content creators is a no-brainer for us. 📍 I am going all in on community. 🙏 That said, I have no experience building events... If you are in the gaming industry and want to help bring this event to life, or have some tips on building out a gathering of this calibre, please do get in touch, any advice is appreciated. 🧠 First steps: Finding a venue, we have two viewings next week, and then if locked in we need to find a headline sponsor to help with costs. 💰 More info here: https://lnkd.in/emkcA52g
