Belzona UK Ltd offered the perfect solution to a leaking boiler drains pipe with minimum downtime. 🚩Problem: The pipe was leaking substantially. The lagging was in place and could not be removed until the shutdown period had started. A repair solution was needed to be in place ready for the short window of opportunity during the shutdown. 🔧Solution: Surface was prepared using conventional blasting means. The prepared area was made dust free and degreased to ensure removal of surface contamenents. Belzona 1511 was mixed applied to any surface corrosion and also to the pre-manufactured plates. These were then installed over the through wall defetcs. During the construction of heating pipelines and some crude oil pipelines, preinsulated pipes need to be connected to each other or to elbows. After the two ends of the steel pipe are welded, the weld needs to be insulated. In this case, a heat shrink casing is required. The heat shrink casing is a casing extruded directly from the base material and has the property of shrinking after processing. When laying the pipeline, place the heat shrink casing at the pipe connection, and overlap the two ends with the outer protective pipe of the insulation pipe. Use a gas gun to evenly heat both ends of the heat shrink casing, the casing shrinks tightly onto the outer sheath pipe, it forms a whole. Then fill it with polyurethane foam to complete a safe and stable insulation.

Pipe Bursting Q&A 💬 Is 'Pneumatic' or 'Static' pipe bursting used to replace water main?? The fundamental difference between the two methods is the way the force is applied to break apart the host pipe. With static, as the rods are pulled back towards the receiving pit, the brute force causes the tooling (blades or slitter) to fracture the host pipe, cut through repairs or split non-fracturable host pipe materials. With pneumatic, the 'hammer' uses percussive action which is supplied by an air hose that runs in through the new HDPE pipe being installed. This force fractures the host pipe. While most contractors use pneumatic pipe bursting to replace gravity sewer, we always use static pipe bursting to replace pressure pipe (water or sewer force main). #pipebursting

What is Water Hammering in Flushing System ? Water hammer does more than create annoying banging and knocking noises. It can cause leaks and even burst pipes. Through my experience at Media City, Angkasapuri, this has caused a major problem to the building. Rectification must be done to avoid water ponding in the service duct which can be worsened to the lower level. The type of pipe that was used in the building was uPVC. To takcle this issue in the future, other materials such as Electrofusion HDPE pipe should be proposed to replace the existing pipe. This HDPE pipe can withstand greater pressure compared to the uPVC pipe (up to 10 bars).

Stay-in-place #fiberglass #insulation is traditionally used to insulate steam pipes, particularly for #residential and #commercial purposes. It is considered a best practice, and sometimes ordinance, to regularly inspect your steam pipes. A proper inspection requires access to the pipe’s surface, usually resulting in a “plug” being cut from the hard surface of the insulation. Often, the plugs are not replaced after the conclusion of the inspection. The integrity of the insulation is now compromised as heat escapes through the opening on the surface. Additionally, moisture can enter through the opening and get trapped in the insulation. This increases the risk for #CUI (#corrosion under insulation) to occur and cause process leakage.
