"Gratitude on the part of those receiving his surprise gifts is an essential part of his videos". 👍MrBeast primarily generates philanthropic funds through advertising revenue linked to viewer engagement. "Like and Subscribe so we can keep saving the world." 🚗Drive-by philanthropy makes solving complex issues look easy and paints recipients as passive, highlighting the power imbalance between the giver and the receiver. 👏 I watch these videos with my kids and am into it (have you seen the one where they launch a train into a hole in the ground for no reason, fantastic). His model and motivations for charitable giving are far from perfect. The MrBeast way doesn't align with my values of partnering with and portraying beneficiaries...but I believe the good intention is there. He's 25. #Philanthropy, as we've heard many times, isn't as easy as it might seem. If you were suddenly handed a million or even a billion euros, where would you give it? Climate change, global poverty, education, health? The choices are endless, and they’re all important. Philanthropy requires careful thought because the decisions are often between good and good. On top of that, there’s growing scrutiny around the power dynamics in giving—how well-intentioned donations can sometimes unintentionally cause harm.
