Remember when you knew the farmer or rancher who produced your meat, and the butcher who processed it? The meat processing industry has consolidated significantly. Once local and regional, it’s now highly centralized. But a good alternative to corporate meat processing exists. Here’s how Friesla is enabling independent meat processors—and where we fit into the puzzle: https://lnkd.in/g5utZntx

I create a place where food is not a problem, but a solution 💡 | Food100 | Founder Tomorrow's Bites | And accelerating entrepreneurs in AgriFoodTech at StartLife
The headline of this morning shocked me. "Florida Governor Ron DeSantis bans selling and distributing of 'global elite' lab-grown meat." (the word choices here are also one to consider) The first-in-the-nation law prohibits anyone from selling or distributing lab-grown meat in Florida. Similar efforts are under way in Alabama, Arizona and Tennessee. The US was one of the first pioneers of this new innovation, but now states are turning their backs on it. The future doesn't look so bright anymore for cultivated meat. In Europe, countries are setting up regulations against cultivated meat, and now even states in the US are doing so. Do you believe that cultivated meat will eventually succeed despite these challenges? Link to the article: https://lnkd.in/e6xC6Kxf #cultivatedmeat #food #innovation #foodtech #ban #news

If you're against politicians dictating what you eat, please sign our petition below. There is bipartisan concern on this aggressive anti-free market overreach from the government of Florida. Some headlines here. 1️⃣ Government doesn’t get much more intrusive than having politicians tell you what you can and can’t eat - Paul Krugman, The New York Times 2️⃣ The market should decide, not the government. - Wesley J. Smith, National Review 3️⃣ The governor's reasoning is: Because I do not like these products, no one should be allowed to buy them. That attitude is hard to square with DeSantis' description of Florida as "an oasis of freedom" with a "business-friendly environment." - Jacob Sullum, Reason Foundation Bans on cultivated meat serve entrenched interests, not consumers. They contradict free market principles and limit people's rights to make their own decisions about what's on their plate. Bigger than #cultivatedmeat, this is a warning sign for every #synbio, #biotech, #techbio, #lifescience, #foodtech, and #agtech pioneers challenging the status quo in pursuit of a brighter future. #CultivatedMeat https://chng.it/ntcBsFSwY4

Savour Solutions is an innovator in the food industry. We harness the bio-disruptive qualities of natural substances to control microbiological contamination in food. Our products can be used in and on food products, as well as in facilities to keep the environment clean. One place where we have had great success is in the sterilizing of blades used in processing. Imagine this scenario...a blade that is part of a conveyer belt processing system is used to split a carcass. It is disinfected at the beginning of a production day. Everything is going well until one carcass that has a certain pathogen on it is cut by the blade. Now every carcass cut by that blade after that will become contaminated with that pathogen. What needs to happen is the blade needs to be disinfected between each cut! It just makes sense - right? And yes - we have the technology (backed up by science) to do exactly that. #techworking #zerowaste #safefood

Dude. No. This article cites the FDA as having approved a handful of companies for production of cultured meat. This argument serves as the author's factual basis for the cultured meat's being viable. Maybe the cultured meat is ok, but the FDA's saying so surely does not make it so. The FDA, itself, is unduly incentivized to rule the way the lobbyists want it to. Therefore the FDA approval is null & void. That said, eat whatever you figure is good for you. No conflict of interest! Bottom line: you're not getting anything more official out of the FDA than that which your common sense will tell you. Gee, it's about food. It's almost as though this article's aim is to de humanize the reader into not trusting your own gut instinct about the materials you're going to stick into your guts. Link to contrary article on science (dot) org about how the FDA poorly handles its own conflicts of interest: https://lnkd.in/gKQ-vy7r

From deli to minced meat, high-risk foods are everywhere. For meat in particular, there are challenges at every phase of production. Biofilm thrives in hard-to-reach places like mincing machines. But unfortunately, mincing machines can be difficult — and sometimes dangerous — to take apart completely. And scrubbing manually takes significant time and effort that slows operations and production at-large. The answer? A foaming product like ProvaCharge that can effectively reach more inaccessible equipment to penetrate biofilm and kill the bacteria within it in minutes, without harming productivity. Learn more about ProvaCharge in our latest insight. https://bit.ly/3MTLmZk #biofilmcontrol #biofilmlisteria #ProvaCharge #foodprocessing
