Hobersal has manufactured the vacuum furnace model 15PR575V for sintering titanium parts.
The furnace incorporates Leybold vacuum equipment up to x10-2mbar and a controlled atmosphere system (EV7) composed of 2 flowmeters, one up to 15l/min for work (inerting the retort) and the second (to cool the chamber up to 40l/min) also incorporates a forced cooling system composed of a motor that introduces fresh air outside the retort and an automatic flap that expels the heat achieving very fast cooling.
The furnace is controlled by Eurotherm EPC3004 and Itools software that allows through the program to make working ramps, activate/ stop the pump, aeration, activate and stop gas 1 and gas 2 and activate the forced cooling.
For safety reasons, the furnace is equipped with an overpressure valve.
The furnace allows real time display, data download in CSV format and vacuum/overpressure logging.

Globe valve is primarily used as a throttling valve (control valve) yet its design and application selection have to be thorougly looked at (globe valves create a high pressure drop).
Gate valve is only meant for isolation and its sealing capability can be compromised if used for throttling (flow controlling)
Ball valve:
it’s not a advisable to use a ball valve to control pressure (no precise control) yet can be used for throttling (different type of ball valve; trunnion or V-port)

Case Study: A ball valve was replaced by a globe valve to throttle an ethylene flow from 80 to 30 bar. The throttled valve caused heavy vibrations in the connected 3-inch pipeline that could have caused fatigue rupture. Vibrations were discovered betimes before leakage.

1-When a valve is partially closed to below 20% of its original opening, vortex induced vibrations can cause damage to valve seating, disc, packing and stem.
2-Throttling a valve to reduce flow and pressure requires analysis, good valve design and operation.
3-Strong support and anchoring are required, to protect equipment
and piping.
4-Ethylene pressure reduction can result in brittle carbon steel due to low temperature; control is required.
5- Assess vibration and erosion when choosing a valve that might be used in a partially closed position.
