📄 New FebriDx® Study Lumos Diagnostics is pleased to announce the respected international journal, Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology, has published results of a FebriDx® study conducted by collaborators at Sant Joan de Déu Hospital, Barcelona, one of Spain’s largest paediatric hospitals. The study enrolled 216 paediatric patients and aimed to determine FebriDx’s impact on the management of antibiotics in paediatric patients presenting to the emergency department with Acute Respiratory Infection. The study concluded FebriDx® could be a useful tool for optimising antibiotic use in children with acute febrile respiratory infections. FebriDx® may also decrease the need for unnecessary chest X-rays, improving the management of febrile respiratory illnesses in children. Lumos CEO and Managing Director, Doug Ward commented: “We are highly encouraged by the results of this paediatric study and I commend Associate Professor Dr. Carles Luaces Cubells and his team for their excellent work. We are also grateful to all the patients who agreed to participate – their contributions are invaluable in helping us to achieve our goal of reducing antibiotic overuse.” >> Please note this news update is not directed at the US market << Read today’s ASX release 👉 https://lnkd.in/gt5ctrYY $LDX #LDX #Lumos #innovation #pointofcare #medicaldevice #medtech #antimibrobialresistance #AMR

Chief Science Officer & Co-founder, Board Certified Infectious Disease and Internal Medicine Physician, Epidemiology, Clinical Informatics, IDSA member, Medical Writer, Children's Book Author, and Musician
Not only did almost half of the infectious disease (ID) fellowship seats go unfilled for this year's match, but the number of ID applicants also declined. Studies have shown that 80% of US counties have no ID specialists and this number may worsen. With no experts in ID available, how can we expect more appropriate antibiotic usage? It's time we embrace advances in technology that bridge the gap in infectious disease knowledge! #prescriberesponsibly #antimicrobialresistance #antimicrobialstewardship #publichealth #infectiousdiseases #infectionprevention #infectioncontrol https://lnkd.in/eqmP6A9D.

Dr Granata graduated in Medicine from the University "Sapienza" in Rome, Italy in 2010. During his medical studies he became interested in the interactions of the human immune system with different pathogens. He started his specialisation in Clinical Immunology to combine his interest in clinical research with an evidence-based approach to infectious diseases. During his specialisation, he focused on human immunodeficiency and autoimmune diseases. In 2016, he continued his research as a Visiting Fellow in the Rheumatology Research Group, Institute of Infection, Inflammation and Ageing, University of Birmingham, UK. 🔬 New Case Report Published: A recent article, "An uncommon encounter: Pseudescherichia vulneris infection in a neonate", has been published in Infectious Disease and Tropical Medicine. This case report examines an 18-day-old term infant with a rare infection caused by Pseudescherichia vulneris and Acinetobacter baumannii. The diagnosis presented challenges due to the rarity of the pathogen and its phenotypic similarities to other Enterobacteriaceae. Despite these complexities, the treatment was successful, and the infant recovered well. 🧪 Key highlights of the report include: - The identification of multi-drug resistant P. vulneris 🦠. - The complexities in diagnosing rare pathogens with limited access to advanced diagnostic tools. - Successful treatment leading to a favorable outcome. 📄 The full case report is available for further review here: https://lnkd.in/gkP9Fkju #InfectiousDiseases #NeonatalCare #PseudescherichiaVulneris #MedicalResearch #Healthcare #AntibioticResistance
