Excited to share the article below, for which I’m a co-author, together with María Teresa Campos, Adrien Moucquot, David Dellamonica and Heather Moses     Based on research conducted with 24 hospitals across Europe and Canada, as part of our MDT Aid Program (MAP), this article sets out the key areas in which process variation is seen in Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs) working in cancer, as well as a framework and approach to address and reduce this variability.    I’m really pleased that AstraZeneca is supporting this work. Effective MDTs can make a critical difference in determining the right treatment approach for a person with cancer. Any variability in this effectiveness can have a knock-on impact on patient outcomes, and so it’s only right that we do what we can to support improvements across the board.  Many thanks to the MDTs and hospitals who contributed to the research. When a patient receives a cancer diagnosis, their journey ahead is filled with the unknown. From treatments to countless appointments, every day is consumed by their diagnosis, and the added stress of financial uncertainty should not also weigh on their shoulders. Patient navigation programs effectively enhance equal access to care, diminish financial toxicity, and improve health and quality of life outcomes. However, resource constraints can hinder the widespread use of these programs. Digital solutions can help, but health systems must grapple with return on investment questions as they think about scaling the implementation of patient navigation programs. Really great article here. There's a ton of potential from advancements in liquid biopsy technology for cancer care. Early detection and treatment are key to cancer survival, and that's an area it's proving highly successful in. But Gebra Cuyun Carter and Caitlin Kubler point out a disappointing fact: "Research is already showing that liquid biopsy for selecting treatment is falling into well-established patterns of use." As we move towards integrating liquid biopsy into standard care, addressing these disparities is key to ensuring that innovations like this benefit all patients equitably. Collaboration among stakeholders will be essential to mitigate these risks and promote fair access across diverse populations. #PrecisionMedicine #Healthcare #HealthEquity
