Survey participants were tasked with assessing the significance and appeal of various employee benefits concerning compensation within their company and its competitiveness in the local labor market. 📌 Unsurprisingly, the primary focus was on the base hourly wage or salary level. 📌 However, there was recognition that other benefits played a crucial role in attracting and retaining employees. 📌 These included health insurance, bonuses or additional income opportunities, paid vacation, contributions to a 401(k) or retirement plan, paid sick leave, flexible work hours, dental and vision insurance. 📌 Notably, sign-on bonuses for new hires were deemed more important than accident or disability insurance, life insurance, or flexible spending accounts—benefits that are typically common and well-received. This underscores the necessity for some companies to offer sign-on bonuses in a competitive labor market, a practice that several interviewees indicated they hadn't previously encountered.
