At DSEI 2023 - MilDef launches new Panel PC technology MilDef's Panel PC integrates a ruggedized display and detachable computer into an "intelligent display". The retractable and space-efficient computer can be prepared for missions, plugged into the opened display before missions, and taken away after missions to analyze data. The unique feature is that the palm size computer is extremely easy to quickly detach from the display, while both the computer module and the display section can be used standalone. Fredrik Persson, MilDef CTO, emphasizes its significance: “The Panel PC technology represents a powerful evolutionary step in ruggedized and smart display systems. Adaptability and cost-effectiveness have been guiding principles in the development process to offer a unique solution with significant benefits in military operations. In our solution, new computer modules can be easily integrated with existing display modules without replacing the entire system. The system has been implemented on combat-ready platforms.

🌌 Pentagon Force Protection Agency Unveils US Commercial Space Integration Strategy... The United States Department of Defense (DoD) has introduced its first-ever Commercial Space Integration Strategy, marking a pivotal shift towards leveraging commercial space innovations for national security. Key Highlights: 🔹The strategy outlines the military's plan to utilize commercial space services and technologies. 🔹Aims to enhance resilience and deterrence in national defense through innovative tech and rapid upgrades. 🔹Reflects a significant shift from government-led space projects to collaboration with the burgeoning commercial space sector. 🔹The four main priorities include ensuring access to commercial solutions, integrating these solutions into daily operations, protecting U.S. national security space interests, and leveraging DoD resources to spur commercial space capabilities. 🗣️ "The commercial space sector drives innovation. The impact on national security depends on how well we integrate their capabilities into our operations – in peacetime and conflict," says John F. Plumb, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Space Policy. How can this strategy catalyze further innovation and collaboration between the government and private sectors in space technology? https://lnkd.in/e95DvH-y #SpaceTech #NationalSecurity #Innovation #DoDStrategy

Collective Defense in Space In the future, NATO member states will increase their interoperability to confront space-based threats. New technical standards and exercises will extend the alliance’s collective security framework into new domains. Commentary by Benjamin Jensen and Erica Lonergan — July 8, 2024 In modern great power competition, standards to enhance interoperability will have to extend beyond nation-states to the private sector. NATO is increasingly advocating integrating private sector partners to support space domain awareness and tracking orbital objects. Back to GMTIs, satellites need to pass information in orbit and with ground-based terminals to provide an up-to-date picture of the battlefield. SpaceX’s ability to pass data between satellites in space using lasers makes intelligence networks more resilient and responsive by reducing the latency and making them more resistant to electronic warfare. This capability makes it possible to support longer kill chains. Russian threats to NATO member states extend into space. As a result, the future of the alliance depends on securing the heavens through a mix of interoperability standards and new contingency plans.
