What a wonderful congress last week with Raphael Hemler as the day chair on "How can we achieve the embedding of the cycle of appropriate use in daily care through 'samen kiezen én delen'". Thanks to the organizers Federatie Medisch Specialisten, ZonMw and Zorgevaluatie en Gepast Gebruik. Let's share some messages that I picked up from Hylke Brenkman PhD student of Jelle Ruurda: PLASTIC-Study 'Route Along the Circle of Appropriate Use' 🐌 The process is not progressing as quickly as hoped: de-implementing certain practices can sometimes be challenging. Despite adjusting the guideline based on the study publication results. ZonMW provides a dissemination and implementation boost to further apply the results in practice, including taking a deeper look into barriers and facilitators: 🔎 Why is it difficult to change knowledge or habits/behaviors? 💡 Approximately 7 years from knowledge gap to guideline adjustment vs. 10-13 years. In the PLASTIC-study the main gain in time reduction was found in the phase of publication of results to guideline revision: from 5-7 years to 2 years! Recommendations: ✔ If level 1a evidence is not needed, set up a low-complexity study. ✔ Vectis should benefit from care declaration research, as there is still room for improvement in obtaining data. ✔ Assistance from implementation experts is necessary. Reflecting on my journey, I had the privilege to attend a Northern European Association for Accelerator Engineers (NAAE) conference in Denmark, Herlev, back in 2016. It was more than just a conference; it was a transformative experience that broadened my horizons, allowing me to connect with other professionals, share insights and gain a deeper understanding of the intricate work in my field, Radiotherapy. For those unfamiliar, NAAE is a community for engineers, physicists, company representatives and students, who perform quality assurance, maintenance, repairs and develop or sell oncology systems and radiotherapy equipments. Now deployed at the Clinical Research Center of Hôpital Fondation Adolphe de Rothschild in Paris, real-time Doppler holography of the retina is set to become a new standard for non-invasive monitoring of quantitative retinal and choroidal hemodynamic biomarkers. 👁 ❤️ The ‘Holodoppler’ programme (public funding #France2030) is a consortium comprising Lumibird Medical - Quantel Medical, Ellex & Optotek,Hôpital Fondation Adolphe de Rothschild, Hôpital national des Quinze-Vingts , and ESPCI Paris - PSL. 🎯 The aim is to develop a non-invasive medical device capable of quantitatively measuring ocular blood flow. This optical doppler using digital holography will make it possible to quantify ocular haemodynamics and improve diagnosis and monitoring of #glaucoma and #hypertension.

𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗠𝗥𝗜 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗨𝗸𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲 The Government of Japan, in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Crown Agents Japan Limited, is implementing a large-scale project under the Emergency Recovery Program for the Ukrainian Healthcare Sector. One of the key initiatives of this program is the supply of 𝟵 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 to Ukraine. This equipment plays an important role in the modernization of medical infrastructure, which will allow for more accurate and timely diagnostics of patients. This project is being implemented with the active participation of 𝗜𝗡𝗠𝗘𝗗 𝗨𝗞𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗘 𝗟𝗟𝗖, which is responsible for a range of works in Ukraine. This includes installation of MRI equipment, installation of a special Faraday cage, and connection of cooling and ventilation systems. Moreover, the company performs commissioning of MRI systems and provides their warranty and post-warranty maintenance.   An important event took place - the ceremonial commissioning of the first MRI machine from the above program, which took place at the Kyiv Heart Institute. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀, 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴: 🔹 Viktor Liashko - Minister of Healthcare of Ukraine; 🔹 Kuninori Matsuda – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine; 🔹 Hideki Matsunaga – Chief Representative of JICA Ukraine Office; 🔹 Management of Crown Agents Japan Limited. The event discussed further prospects for the Japanese people's assistance, which opens up new opportunities for Ukrainian medicine, especially in the context of post-war recovery.   It is important to note that the commissioned MRI system 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗩𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗘𝗹𝗮𝗻, has the maximum equipment with RF coils and specialized MRI programs, allowing to perform a full range of studies, including neuroimaging, musculoskeletal examinations, contrast/non-contrast MR angiography, and, most importantly for the Heart Institute, expert post-processing of cardiac data.   Thanks to its advanced and unique technologies, the system provides high-precision visualization of the heart and blood vessels, enabling doctors to find solutions for the treatment of complex heart diseases.
