A MacIntyre contribution to the #HomesNotHospitals efforts. I led the network in Wales which played a very small part in driving a much bigger and ongoing journey of change. Please have a read and keep in touch with MacIntyre and the Homes not Hospitals hashtag to help us share glimpses of more positive alternatives when people are distressed. There is so much more to do but if we keep showing what's possible we are so much more likely to achieve positive outcomes than if we just focus on what's wrong. #CompassionFirstPBS #BuildOnThePositives Improving Adult Care Together (IMPACT) Improvement Cymru Heather Henry Carly Morrissey Sarah Kilby Bild In Control Partnerships

Person-centred values = values that help put the interests of the individual at the centre of everything you do, giving them control of all choices and decisions made about their lives. In health and social care, person-centred values include: individuality, choice, independence, dignity, respect, rights, privacy and partnership. The key features of person-centred planning are: 1️⃣ The belief that the individual is best placed to decide on their support needs 2️⃣ The care plan is owned by the individual and is written in the first person 3️⃣ The individual has as much control as possible over their choices 4️⃣ The care plan is ‘needs’ led rather than ‘service’ led Read our recent blog post to find out more about the principles of person-centred care and their importance in delivering quality care: ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/erDcHAyx #personcentredcare #personcentredvalues #socialcare #qualitycare

On the third day of community awareness, the focus shifted towards action and collaboration. The discussions centered around practical steps and initiatives that can be implemented to address the issues identified in the previous sessions. Key stakeholders, including local leaders, educators, healthcare professionals, and community members, came together to brainstorm solutions and develop a roadmap for the future. Workshops and interactive sessions were conducted to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to advocate for their rights and access available resources. Special emphasis was placed on creating awareness about government schemes and programs designed to support education and health for marginalized communities. The day concluded with a commitment from all parties to work together towards creating a more equitable and supportive environment. The collective energy and enthusiasm showcased the community’s resilience and desire for positive change, setting the stage for continued efforts to uplift and empower the most vulnerable members of society. #CommunityEngagement #CollaborationForChange #EmpowermentThroughAction #InclusiveDevelopment #GrassrootsInitiatives #SupportForAll #EqualRights #CommunitySupport #BuildingBridges #ActionForChange #ttf

Civic engagement is not just a duty; it's a powerful tool for creating healthier communities. As we observe National Public Health Week (#NPHW), Flourish & Thrive Labs encourages you to reflect on how civic participation influences public health. Whether you voice concerns in community forums, contribute to public health surveys, or engage with local health initiatives, your involvement is a catalyst for change. Together, we can ensure that public health policies reflect our community's needs and aspirations. A recent analysis of civic engagement and state health outcomes from 1996 to 2020 showed that in states where people are more civically engaged and vote more, public health outcomes are better. (Source: Voting Restrictions and Public Health: An Analysis of State Variation ) Did you know that Flourish & Thrive Labs specializes in helping with civic engagement? We recently led a community engagement effort to help understand barriers to participation in a local community. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gzR5AFDU Image source: NPHW

Over the past several months, our department has embarked on a transformative journey to revamp our mission, vision, and values. This collective effort was driven by a desire to better reflect our current work and aspirations for the future. We engaged in thoughtful discussions, gathered diverse perspectives, and collaboratively shaped a new framework that embodies our dedication to community health and empowerment. Our Mission: Community Health Worker Initiatives (CHWI) aims to support community-based health initiatives that build community power and improve health outcomes. Our Vision: CHWI envisions achieving health equity and social justice across New Mexico’s diverse communities through empowerment, education, and a community health lens. Our Values: - Equity - Advocacy - Compassion - Integrity - Community Care These revised statements not only guide our current initiatives but also pave the way for future endeavors. They underscore our commitment to fostering community power, achieving health equity, and promoting social justice. As we move forward, we are excited to continue working towards these goals, guided by our shared values and collective vision.
