Bass boosted version of Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans, which has been in public domain since last year. Public domain films are crucial for filmmakers without a budget to adapt and re-use within their own films or even do re-edits. The possibilities are endless. Let's see what comes forth in the future with more well-known films entering public domain (perhaps after 50 or even 100 years). #cinema #publicdomain #silentcinema

📿On this day, September 20, 1946, delayed because of WWII, the first Cannes Film Festival began, and it became one of cinema's major annual #events. ⁉How much do you know about one of the world's most famous cinema festivals? Find out now by playing our #triviaquiz: https://lnkd.in/evuJgr3n. And make sure to share your score in the comment section! 3 LESSER-KNOWN #FACTS ABOUT THE CANNES FILM FESTIVAL 👉It Was Originally Created to Counter Fascism: The Cannes Film Festival was founded in 1939 as a response to the Venice Film Festival, which had become heavily influenced by fascist regimes in Europe at the time. The inaugural event, however, was interrupted by the #outbreak of World War II and didn't fully launch until 1946. 👉The Palme d'Or Didn't Exist Until 1955: While the Cannes Film Festival is now synonymous with the prestigious Palme d'Or, the award wasn’t introduced until 1955. Before that, films were awarded the “Grand Prix du Festival International du Film.” The design of the Palme d’Or, a golden palm leaf, was #inspired by the coat of arms of the city of Cannes. 👉Scandals Have Played a Big Role in Its History: Over the years, Cannes has been no stranger to controversy. From protests to film withdrawals, one of the most notable moments was in 1968, when the festival was canceled midway due to widespread protests in #France, including filmmakers such as Jean-Luc Godard and François Truffaut, who disrupted screenings in solidarity with the May '68 movement.

This is Genius level of the Mind.
Have you ever wondered why some memories stand out in black and white? Martha, despite being bed-bound, uncovered a fascinating connection between her "black and white" memories and a classic 1922 film, Nosferatu. Directed by F.W. Murnau, this horror/fantasy masterpiece captivated Martha through its ingenious play of light and shadow. Reflecting on the film's chiatoscuro lighting technique that used a wide range of grey shades, Martha realized the profound impact of light and darkness in storytelling. This revelation sparked her curiosity about the utilization of this cinematic superpower by modern filmmakers. From banned to revered, Nosferatu's enduring legacy lies in its masterful manipulation of light and shadow. Martha's exploration of this artistic technique serves as a reminder of the timeless allure and power of monochrome imagery. #FilmHistory #LightAndShadow #ClassicCinema #Nosferatu #CinematicTechniques (Video-rights belong to the owner)
