Defence is an elastic notion. Until when is it justified and against whom? This elasticity bears the material necessary for justifications of #preemptive #violence, retaliatory violence and revenge. #terrorists use this elasticity to justify the most heinous acts of indiscriminate violence. Their logic goes: If they are killing our people, children and women and the weak, why should we spare theirs? This logic is fundamentally perverse and the source of great evil. But it is hypocritical to expect non-state actors to be outstandingly restrictive, meticu- lous and precise in their designation of the enemy and their attacks, when a lack of precision and ‘#collateral damage’ are acceptable for state actors. https://lnkd.in/e3pYAmAH

Many people voicing their opinion on the conflict are pretending to know everything, so let's do some math and test those brain cells! Israel paid a #ransom of 3 attempted #terrorists for every 1 Israeli #hostage. 2 released prisoners just killed 3 Israelis, and critically injured 6 more. Q1) With the current paid ransom of 150 attempted terrorists released, how many more Israeli civilians can we expect to be murdered/injured by repeat offenders? Q2) For every 1 hostage recovered, how many Israeli civilians should we expect to be killed/critically injured? Don't get me wrong, we should be doing everything we can to get the hostages back, but we cannot endanger other Israeli civilians. Israel is performing a skewed version of the Trolley Dilemma. Extra Credit math question: How in the world can Hamas count 5000 dead under mountains of rubble in under an hour while Israel is still finding the remains of bodies in open fields and standing homes 50 days after the #simchattorahmassacre?

Another tumultuous case, this time security-related, successfully handled by our firm Orit Hayoun, Law Firm. Unprecedentedly, we achieved the dismissal of charges in a serious security-related case. Our firm uncovered flawed evidence presented by the military intelligence, thereby saving the life of a young individual, a true gem of our nation, who was at risk of facing prolonged imprisonment. It's alarming how close this case was to a tragic outcome. If not for our determination, fighting spirit, and courage, even against governmental and military bodies like the Ministry of Defense, Shin Bet, IDF, Intelligence Corps, and the Cyber Prosecutor's Office, this could have ended with another prisoner taking their own life in prison. The Cyber Prosecutor's Office, with integrity, dismissed the charges after we presented our evidence. Wouldn't want even the slightest SCRUTINY would we, Biden? The White House Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch PROVED Israel used weapons to PURPOSEFULLY target journalists in Lebanon, killing a Reuters journalist. MURDERING JOURNALISTS is a WAR CRIME. So you skip the SCRUTINY part that would require answers to such questions, to sell Israel more weapons that they can use to commit more war crimes? The US acts like Israel is a decent country and they can report the serious crime of RAPE against a Palestinian CHILD by Israeli prison guards. Israel does indeed act straight away... by ransacking and closing down the charity that dared to report this heinous crime and labelled it a "TERROR organisation." And you still sell the lie that it is just another NORMAL country and ALLY? Tell me, if an NGO reported such a crime again, would you report it to Israel again? Knowing nothing would be investigated and what would happen to the NGO? Or would you advise the NGO that if they pursued it, they'd be attacked and closed down too? And yet you want to pretend Israel is a normal country? Israel is a TERROR STATE and has exposed the US Government and turned it and any semblance of JUSTICE into a joke along with it. Israel has exposed the CORRUPTION in the US political system. LOBBY GROUPS should be ILLEGAL! Political donations from individuals should be ILLEGAL. Campaigns need to be stripped back and rely purely on party membership fees, have a very low cap and laws requiring media to give equal coverage. The UN Office on Drugs and Crime @UNODC published the latest Global Report on Homicides. Basically showing more of the same trends and responses. In social media it calls for the world to address the root causes of this violence to save lives. https://lnkd.in/ew9EHRy2 Yes long overdue to achieve SDG 16.1!   The new Routledge International Handbook of Juvenile Homicide is the definitive work on juvenile homicide. https://lnkd.in/eQpTjQme. It has  48 chapters sharing the best research and researchers on the causes and realities of juvenile homicides,   The Handbook ends with two chapters charting the course for the future. One of which is ours – “how to shift government policy from punishing to saving lives”. This chapter provides highlights from my book as well as an academic text for our 2 min video for policy makers https://lnkd.in/ekm6CquH   Getting to know the consensus on the science for proven violence prevention and the UN guidelines is a first step in saving (across the world and annually) 250 thousand lives, 15 million women protected from GBV and half a billion fewer children victims of violence. It will generate increases of 3-5% of GDP in middle income high violence countries. Here is careful analysis just for Mexico of where we are today … “The economic impact of crime and violence in Mexico for the year 2021 has been estimated at about $192 billion US dollars, which corresponds to 14.6% of their national GDP.
