One of the quickest ways to have folks become compliant with the status quo or to not rock a boat is to give them an award or some other form of reinforcement to increase compliance behaviors. We recall it well from childhood, as we would often do almost anything to get a gold star on an assignment, “Job well done!” Question: what gold star, award (ie, Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony, etc) or other keeps you from saying what you need to say - doing what you need to do to make a difference in your small circle of influence (eg, at your job, social organization, family, etc.)? #goldstar #award #differencemakers #carrot #changemakers #operantconditioning

I joined Greenough Communications just over a year ago with the support of an amazingly talented leadership team of Christine Williamson, Jen Heady, Jessika Parry, and Kenneth Craig – and newly added, but I can’t imagine us without her – Nicole Murphy, and a vision. Together, we will make it a reality. I’m incredibly grateful - and honored - to follow in the footsteps of Phil Greenough. Over the last 25 years, he founded and led Greenough through several incredible inflection points across the #technology, #healthcare, and #energy industries and provided us with a proven playbook to tackle the ones yet to come. From Fortune 500 companies to the many startups, he was there penning new narratives and disrupting markets. His mark on the communications field and this agency is undeniable, and I look forward to continuing his legacy.   What’s next is still unwritten, but what I do know is we will: ➡ Have fun defining the “new rules” for agencies to live by. As Eleanor Hawkins recently said, the “challenger firms” will be the ones that have senior leaders who walk side-by-side with their clients, deliver the strategy, and generate the results vs. relying on those who are just cutting their teeth in the field. Additionally, our quarterly one-on-one trainings go beyond mere support; they're about uplifting each other to ensure our clients are receiving the best work and have our best minds working together to deliver that work. It's not just about being on the team; it's a mindset that consistently revolves around our clients, focusing on how we can continuously enhance and deliver exceptional results. ➡ Be present. This remote world can be distracting, and it can feel monotonous. But collectively, we will be keeping each other focused and present. There are a few aspects of my work that are by far the most rewarding... And it's not helping clients' revenue and net income grow, getting operations more efficient, helping plans get accomplished - which are all amazing things - don't get me wrong... But the moments that stick out even more than those are... - Getting to see a business owner give his life to Jesus and watching his whole life and business get better because of it - Getting to walk alongside a father and son as they figure out the next steps in their business and life - Getting to see a business owner start to enjoy the freedom they always hoped for - Getting to see a leadership team thriving and preparing to take over the company one day These moments (among many others) are why I believe I get to be a part of some of the most rewarding work there is...

Theater Alliance was so pleased to join Booz Allen Hamilton at The Anthem for their Booz Allen Excellence Awards! The talented team of Theater Alliance artists and youth "brought the magic" to the evening of WOW led by Natalie Ade, Kari Merkel, and team. Arts organizations get asked to perform at these kind of events all the time - and as an artistic leader, we get asked to make those decisions. For me, the question always comes down to #values. Does the organization align with our values of integrity, diversity, and excellence? Does the organization value artists? Does the organization live their values? With #BoozAllenHamilton, the answer was a resounding YES. Even in the first conversation about the event, we didn't talk about what they needed or how to make all their dreams come true on a tiny budget. Instead, we talked about what they believe in and what we believe in - we talked about the WHY of our organizations. That is what makes a great collaboration and I'm grateful! #values #integrity #diversity #excellence
