As we observe Mental Health Awareness Month in the U.S., let us be cognizant of the things we say to colleagues when we see signs of mental distress that might perpetuate stigma by minimizing their experience. If you wouldn't say it to someone whose having a heart attack, it probably isn't a truly supportive thing to say to someone experiencing mental distress. #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthawarenessmonth #stigma

Many of us are experiencing challenges or silently battling functional depression, yet we hesitate to discuss it openly. Let's work towards normalizing these conversations because, truthfully, I believe we're all navigating it, but societal norms make it difficult to express. Share your thoughts on one of my questions in the video reel in the comments below. 👇 If you or someone you know is grappling with mental health, reach out – call or text 988 to connect with a trained crisis counselor. 📞💬 #BreakTheStigma #MentalHealthMatters

MAY is #MentalHealthMonth Talking about your mental health, is not attention seeking. Everyday people have trouble functioning or worse choose to end their lives. And we say...Why didn't they speak up? A stigma still exists in our society that being vulnerable, especially for men, is a weakness. Let's change that! Support someone... 1. LISTEN: Let them share as much or as little as they want, and don't try to diagnose or second guess their feelings. 2. ASK: What can I do right now to support you? 3. CONFIRM: I am here for you. *And Please pay attention to what you say to yourself inside your head! #bekindtoyourselfandothers

Happy Friday Team Its important to remember that what you see is not always the full story. That is why awareness and education around mental health is so important! It teaches us that there can be a lot going on behind the scenes that the observer is not privy to. Which is why I love this reminder about the disconnect between how a behaviour can be interpreted and what it is covering up for the individual. The one that stands out for me ‘Just “sad”’. Clinical depression is different to a depressed mood. Feeling sad is a normal part of life, suffering from depression is a mental illness which requires treatment. But from the outside – they can look the same. We all have a lot going on – some of us more than others. Don’t jump to conclusions about why someone is behaving a certain way. Cut them some slack, dip into your empathy bucket – and maybe check in to see if they are doing OK! Have a great weekend LinkedIn. 🌟 Supporting a loved one in crisis is crucial. Here are some ways you can make a meaningful difference: 1️⃣ **Listen Actively**: Create a safe space for them to express their feelings without judgment. Sometimes, just being there is enough. 2️⃣ **Educate Yourself**: Understanding mental health and the signs of distress helps you respond effectively and compassionately. 3️⃣ **Encourage Professional Help**: Gently suggest they speak with a mental health professional. Offer to help find resources or accompany them if needed. 4️⃣ **Stay Connected**: Regular check-ins show that you care and remind them they’re not alone in this journey. 5️⃣ **Be Patient & Non-Judgmental**: Recovery takes time; your unwavering support can be a lifeline during tough moments. Let’s foster an environment where open conversations about mental health are welcomed! 💚 #MentalHealthMatters #SupportEachOther #EndTheStigma

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. This a time to educate yourself and others on the matter. Remember folks, we often forget that mental health is as important as physical health and should be taken care of by all. FACT:Roughly 1 in 5 adults experience mental illness in a given year. It is more than what you thought. But still the mentality behind opening up about mental health and seeking help, always attracts some stigma. We can work hard to knock down these walls, and make it a place more filled with respect for everyone that’s ever felt the grasp of mental health issues. Take aways: It’s okay not to be okay. It's important to remember that you don't need to go through it alone, and talking about how you feel can help. You are not alone. #BreakTheStigma #MentalHealth
