A few takeaways from yesterday’s DEI Leadership Summit at Berkeley College. First off, a huge thank you to Eve Cortes, CPC, ELI-MP for facilitating an amazing day. 💜 ✨Facilitate Inclusive Meetings Rather than setting out rules for a meeting, set an agreement at the beginning. Agreements are collaborative and lend space for conversation and resolution. Ask yourself: How do we want to contribute and work together? ✨Throw Glitter, Not Shade Use language to uplift each other, even when we disagree, like saying "Yes, and" instead of "No, but." ✨In Every Chair A Leader We are all leaders in our own way and we are here together for a reason. We are all important and we all have something to contribute.

Looking forward to sharing some strategies on measuring the effectiveness of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategies at this week’s BSME - British Schools in the Middle East leadership conference. Regardless of whether you will be at the conference I thought I would get some conversation started here. So… How do you currently measure the impact of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategies in your school or organisation? Are there tangible outcomes that you've observed? DM me and let me know if you feel a little shy to share more publicly.

Women's Leadership Coach & Speaker | Helping women in schools and non-profits to lead more confidently, authentically, and unapologetically.
Dear Women Leaders, Building relationships with colleagues in your organization must be strategic. That doesn't mean you're being inauthentic. You are authentic. The relationship is strategic. It would be impossible to build deep relationships with all of your colleagues. So, you must choose wisely. On your long list of folks you need to "get to know better," consider the following: * What do you both have to gain from a relationship? * How can this relationship help build a positive culture of collaboration? * How could this relationship help both of you reach your goals? Your time is a precious resource. Prioritizing who you spend it with isn't smarmy. It's smart. Sincerely, Your Leadership Coach *bonus points for knowing the movie reference!

I took SIX pages of notes at this year’s MSU Women’s Leadership Conference 😳 This is by far one of my favorite annual events, because it is wildly empowering to be surrounded by so many female leaders. Here are some of my biggest takeaways: 1) Every single day you get what you expect 2) People only listen if they ask to be told 3) A true community needs two drunks and a mayor 4) It’s just a cow 5) Ask more than you tell 6) Label the fears —> Accusation Audit —> Pause 7) Take up space 8) Recognize the noise, figure out where it’s coming from, and filter it through your whole self 9) Set the damn boundaries 10) Empathy without compassion = Burnout 11) It’s not “I win or I lose,” but “I win or I learn.” 12) Strong women are not born. We are made from the storms we’ve walked through.
