🚀 Overcoming Challenges in File Server to SharePoint Migration! 📂➡️🌐
Embarking on the journey of migrating from a traditional file server to SharePoint can be both exhilarating and daunting. In the second phase of my migration project, I encountered some unique challenges that tested my problem-solving skills and perseverance.
One of the biggest hurdles I faced was the need to replace file server paths with SharePoint site links in bulk. With over forty thousand links and hyperlinks to manage, the task seemed overwhelming. To my dismay, there was no out-of-the-box feature available to capture bulk SharePoint site paths, leaving me with the daunting prospect of manual work.
However, where there's a will, there's a way! Leveraging the power of PowerShell scripting and the SharePoint Online module, I embarked on a mission to automate the task. Crafting a robust PowerShell script, I was able to seamlessly capture and replace all the data in a fraction of the time it would have taken manually. The feeling of accomplishment upon seeing the script execute flawlessly was truly exhilarating!
Moving forward, I'm excited to share more insights and experiences from my file server migration journey. By shedding light on the technical glitches and challenges encountered along the way, I hope to empower others embarking on similar migration endeavors to navigate their paths with confidence and ease.
Remember, every challenge is an opportunity for growth and innovation. Embrace the journey, tackle the obstacles head-on, and emerge stronger and wiser on the other side!

7moTo bad a lot of organizations are migrating there data (garbage) to SharePoint without restructuring the folder structure and/or cleanup there data Merethe Stave. This would be a good step before making the step towards #Copilot. So people make a plan before migrating and don’t store stuff in SharePoint without giving Governance the right attention 😄and then use all of the goodies 🎉
