Building a modern mine allows us to incorporate the latest world-class technology, making our operations more efficient and environmentally responsible. One of the key innovations we’re implementing is ore sorting. This technique saves energy by reducing the amount of ore that needs processing and minimizing the rock transported and stored above ground. Underground, after extracting the narrow veins of gold, copper, silver and critical minerals such as tellurium, the next step is to extract these valuable minerals from the rock. A core principle of our project is to retain or return as much barren rock underground as possible. This not only strengthens the mine's structure but also reduces energy use and minimizes surface storage—an excellent environmental practice. Underground, we use a 'crusher' to break the rock into smaller pieces, roughly the size of tennis balls. From there, a specialized ore sorter equipped with sensors identifies rocks containing gold, copper, silver and critical minerals such as tellurium. Only those will be sent for further processing, while the remaining rock stays underground. #ModernMining #Efficiency #SustainableMining #InnovationInMining #DalradianOpportunities #Technology

Copper mineralised quartz-calcite breccia, Thaduna Copper Mine, Western Australia. The matrix is a bituminised turbidite of the Thaduna Formation, where ~2Ga hydrocarbons migrated into a fault/fold system and decayed in place. A mere 500Ma later, a low sulphidation copper bearing fluid mineralised the bituminous fault. Further north east within the basin, we drilled 3m of solid pyrobitumen in c. 2011 within the Johnson Cairn Formation, the likely source rock to the hydrocarbons. This is evidence of a mineral system that operated 500Ma after the structural (fault/fold) and chemical preparation (reductant) were put in place. Or that's my theory anyway, I'm sure "graphite" alteration is acceptable to many.

Zinc is a relatively overlooked metal, but plays a critical role in modern and green tech infrastructure. Zinc galvanizing is what ensures that infrastructure, support frames, nuts and bolts etc. have the required rust resistance that significantly extends lifespan and safety. US Geological Survey data shows that the world has 220,000Kt of Zinc reserves. 🔬 Under the Microscope 🔎 Mineralogically, AZOMITE® is a dacitic (rhyolitic) tuff breccia, formed from volcanic ash around 38.6 million years ago, with minimal alteration despite intermittent lake coverage over the years. Its mineral makeup is distinct from other Hydrated Sodium Calcium AluminoSilicate (HSCAS), featuring non-crystalline composite materials. Described as vitric and poorly welded tuff, it's porous, easily breakable, and rich in minerals and trace elements. AZOMITE has been used for decades to improve pellet mill efficiencies and feed mill economics. The material is naturally hard and ‘gritty.’ Thanks to its irregular shape, it scrubs, polishes the die, and cleans the die's channel from residues. The minor clay fraction, when exposed to steam, lubricates the die and reduces friction, allowing the pellet mill to run ‘smoother’ and faster before any rolls slip. A 10000x scanning electron microscope image of the surface of an AZOMITE particle reveals intact and broken gas bubble walls, providing roughness and jagged edges for a scouring effect.
