While methane has a shorts lifetime than carbon dioxide, it is much more efficient at trapping radiation. Methane is responsible for about a third of the planetary warming we see today. The issue of methane was addressed during COP28 last year in Dubai. if interested to learn more about the top sources of methane emissions from the oil and gas industry attend the webinar organised by Energy Institute.

MethaneSat was launched this month! The satellite will locate and quantify methane emissions from oil and gas operations and make this information available to the public. Remote sensing technologies are being increasingly harnessed to monitor and quantify greenhouse gas emissions. This is occurring in parallel with regulatory developments aimed at quantifying and reducing these emissions. Please read my short blog on this topic if you are interested. #Methane #OilandGas #Satellite #GHGs #CO2 #ClimateGoals #ClimateDisclosures
