Living near a college campus and knowing that graduation is just around the corner has inspired me to share a little food for thought today. To those of you who will soon be graduating, or to those of you who have recently graduated, it can be easy to feel discouraged when job-seeking and even easier to compare yourselves to those around you. Don't be afraid to apply for those dream jobs. If you get it right out of college, that's amazing. If you don't, that's completely normal. No, you may not start out in the position you've dreamed of, but those "small" roles are still essential and still something to be proud of. "Small" roles have a significant impact on companies' functionality. Every job plays some part in the overall efficiency and functionality of an organization. Oftentimes, these roles will allow you the opportunity to interact directly with customers, clients, upper management, etc. The ways in which you interact with others are pivotal to shaping the company's reputation as well as your own. Who knows? You may find a true passion for what you do, or a "smaller" role could even be a stepping stone on the path towards your dream job. Remember, celebrate your accomplishments-all of them-even if they're different than what you imagined. Take pride in your work. Each job you have can teach you some valuable lessons that you can use to become more experienced in the workforce. I hope this brings some peace of mind, and I wish you all the best.

In partnership with HPC our report uncovered the top challenges facing Early Careers Programmes. Retaining talent has emerged as the main obstacle, with a lack of ongoing performance and development feedback and mismatched expectations hindering efforts to develop an organisation's future leaders. Reviewing hybrid working arrangements and setting out a clear career pathway are just two of the ways highlighted by the report to improve the retention of graduates, interns and apprentices. We've already told you all about our new graduate programme, and there's a lot of change. So, what have we changed? The biggest change to our graduate programme is the removal of our streams. These streams saw successful candidates fitting into different roles throughout our business, but we have opportunities that fall outside of these. By removing the streams, we're able to open our programme to a wider group of individuals and offer roles that fall outside of our streams and meet business needs. You can learn more about what our new graduate programme involves at https://lnkd.in/eqG2K2-y #graduateprogramme #YourFutureAccelerated

We’re going to look back 10 years from now and realize that there are winners and losers in Higher Ed. Winners will have prioritized career services, lead with it as part of their brand and core value proposition, and embedded it into the student experience. Those who do, will maintain, if not grow, enrollments. Losers, on the other hand, will treat career services as just another student service, not investing in the function or innovating in any material way. They will consequently see that their students have a less fulfilling and rewarding experience. Those who invest in career services and prioritize career readiness will be winners. We can all be winners.
