Incredibly proud of the work our team is doing in broccoli with our HarvestHold® technology. Together, with fresh produce growers, retailers, and distributors, like Freshouse, we are removing ice completely from the packing and shipping process. What does that mean? 💧 2.5 gallons of water is saved per box of broccoli (~3,500 gallons saved per 🚚)! 🥦 20 pounds of ice removed per box = more produce can be shipped per truck. 📦 Iceless broccoli boxes maintain their integrity, meaning easier handling, less soggy boxes, and ⚠ fewer slip-and-fall opportunities. Growers and retailers can now deliver the same or better quality broccoli, without the mess, risk, and expense of ice. Let's take another trip down memory lane! Back in the late 1800s, fruit growers began considering alternatives to relying solely on middlemen for selling their produce. By 1906, they took proactive steps to collaborate in transportation, packing, and selling their fruits. Advocating for supportive legislation, they successfully established the Farmers Fruit Produce and Warehouse Association of Nova Scotia in 1908. This pivotal move empowered growers with greater control over various aspects of their operations, including building infrastructure, storage facilities, packing methods, shipping logistics, and fruit sales. Building on this momentum, growers took another significant stride in 1912 by forming the United Fruit Companies, a unified selling organization. You have small gardens at your home decided to grow vegetables at your small backyard So you will save 9x by growing vegetables. So you will save more ...when you save more you can further invest for productivity and you can save better than others . In a similar way backward integration is adding a small part of production value chain inside the factory which earlier companies used to outsource. Once they start doing it own the production cost will come down. Businesses are reducing cost of production,can close better deal than others when you have better pricing of your finished goods than peers . #bakcwardintegration
