There’s no denying that Miami has been popularized for its beaches, nightlife, and party scene. However, of late, the city has also emerged as one of the only cities in the world to host a range of pro sports, including the NFL, NBA, NHL, Polo World Cup, Major League Soccer with Inter Miami headlined by Lionel Messi, ATP Masters 1000 Miami Open, and Formula 1. Not to forget, the iconic Art Basel art fair is a major annual event, bringing with it the who’s who of the art world, celebrities, socialites, business magnates, and philanthropists. Miami has a rich, year-round roster of events that you probably won’t find anywhere else - ranging from the Ultra Music Festival to the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, Miami International Film Festival, Miami Fashion Week, and many more. Miami ranked number one on The Economist’s latest report of the world’s top ten thriving cities. The report took into account four key measures over the previous 3 years including population growth, GDP growth, office vacancies, and housing prices. Miami was pitched as the 2nd prime luxury real estate market in the world for price growth by a 2023 Knight Frank report. The report tracks down trends and tendencies of high-net-worth individuals from across the globe. Miami also ranked as the 7th best American city to invest in real estate. Florida, in general, has always been the No. 1 U.S. destination for international buyers, with foreign buyer share increasing by 24% in 2022 compared to 2021. At the moment, Colombia is leading the way when discussing the countries with the biggest investments in Miami real estate.

Do you know about the concept of Janteloven or the Law of Jante of Scandinavian countries? 🔺 People spend a lot on luxury goods in order to display the wealth and attain status. This is also called "Conspicuous Consumption" 📍 This Conspicuous Consumerism is curbed because of the Law of Jante in Scandinavian countries:Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland. 🔺 It is a cultural phenomenon, that discourages people to consider themselves superior just because they have more money or buy luxury products."You are no better than us" 📍 The 10 laws of Jante: 1. You are not to think you are anything special 2. You are not to think you are as good as we are 3. You are not to think you are smarter than we are 4. You are not to imagine yourself better than we are 5. You are not to think you know more than we do 6. You are not to think you are more important than we are 7. You are not to laugh at us 8. You are not to think anyone cares about you 9. You are not to think you can teach us anything 10. You are not to think you are good at anything. 🔺 Anything when pushed to extreme has negative implications and so does the Law of Dante but the main idea of the culture is to promote humility and a sense of equality among people. ✅ This goes by Tall Poppy Syndrome in Australia and New Zealand. ✅ Chaquetear in Chile ✅ Maaiveldcultuur in Netherlands 📍 As a developing economy, we follow the footsteps of America in consumerism. Growth in luxury spending is at an all time high but is it leading to more happiness? Source Reference: The Little Book of Lykke by Meik Wiking #india #business #linkedin #happiness

Great work by Constant on advocating for Hong Kong's brand! As Hong Kongers, we are often quick to criticise our city's shortcomings. But if we take a step back, we'll realise just how accomplished Hong Kong is and can be in the future. Hong Kong may have its challenges, but it also boasts an incredible array of strengths that are often overshadowed by negative narratives. The time has come to shift them and celebrate all that makes Hong Kong unique. I recommend reading the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gHT_UtJX #hongkong #hkg #brand #identity

Urban designer, placemaker / Co-founder of Parkly urban furniture company / Co-founder of RaivioBumann design studio / Winner of Helsinki Design Award 2022 / Leader in Placemaking Europe Network
Spending several weeks in Stadt Bern - we got accustomed to more slow pace, quiet streets and urban sphere. And it was very pleasant. Only when got back to Helsinki, I noticed the difference in speed, noise and safety too: unlike too often in Helsinki, drivers stop at the zebra crossings. Certainly there are calmer areas in Helsinki too, we live and work near fairly busy roads, but the difference for example between the two city centres is very noticeable. "Apart from an occasional jackhammer, the urbanist adage really is true: Cities aren’t loud, cars are loud. Don’t just take my word for it. Researchers have found that about half of urban noise is attributable to motor vehicles." This interesting article by Bloomberg CityLab is eyeopening to the effects of traffic noise and how, for example, noise affects our behaviour in more ways than we can imagine. "Studies consistently show that they overestimate the share of customers who drive, undercounting those who walk, bike or take transit. That is a shame. The packed cafés I saw in Leipzig suggest that businesses thrive when streets are free from car noise. Indeed, restaurateurs could see particular gains from quieter streets: One academic study found that even low-volume traffic sounds diminish the pleasure of eating." https://lnkd.in/dKaMuvJF

Nestled amid the rolling hills of Europe, Italy beckons with its rich history, tantalizing cuisine, and world-renowned fashion. Italy, the tenth-largest economy globally, wields significant influence in international trade and commerce. Its GDP, standing at a formidable $2 trillion, fuels its economic prowess. Within Europe, Italy ranks fourth, trailing only behind Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. But Italy’s impact extends beyond numbers; it’s a hub of creativity and resilience. Italy boasts the second-largest manufacturing industry in Europe and ranks seventh globally. Italian craftsmanship is unparalleled, from sleek luxury cars to exquisite fashion and design. The iconic “Made in Italy” label resonates worldwide, symbolizing quality and innovation. Italy's touch elevates any product, whether a Ferrari engine or a Prada handbag. His Excellency Dante BRANDI, the Italian ambassador to Singapore, emphasizes Italy’s economic strengths. He underscores the country’s commitment to excellence in business and culture. According to Ambassador BRANDI, Italy’s legacy lies not only in its past but also in its forward-thinking approach. Recently, I had the pleasure of attending a fireside session hosted by the Italian Embassy in Singapore. Manfredi Catella, CEO of COIMA SGR, and Katrina Nicholas, Deputy Managing Editor of Bloomberg Singapore, shared valuable insights. They delved into Italy’s real estate sector, housing trends, and investment dynamics. COIMA’s proactive stance, driven by top management, ensures sustainable growth through partner collaboration. Italy’s reputation as a cultural and artistic center is well-deserved. Italy's contributions resonate across centuries, from Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel to Verdi’s operas. Its museums, galleries, and architectural marvels draw enthusiasts from around the globe. Amid economic challenges, Italy remains steadfast in preserving its heritage while embracing modernity. As we sip espresso in bustling Italian piazzas, let’s celebrate Italy’s multifaceted impact. It’s not just about GDP figures; it’s about the soul-stirring melodies of Puccini, the aroma of fresh pasta, and the timeless elegance of Venetian masks. Italy, where tradition meets innovation, continues to shape the world. #ForwardLookingitaly #MadeinItaly #COIMA #Bloomberg

Mexico made history by electing their first female president and it's made worldwide news. Upon watching news coverage from other countries, we realized most people had no idea what they were talking about or had hidden agendas. So we set out to ask our Mexican friends and neighbors about: - Why Claudia Sheinbaum and her party won (it really wasn't a shocker like the media is saying) - The history of parties here in Mexico and what they've done (one of them is shocking!) - The differences between how Americans and Mexicans view policy - Some of the (very valid) concerns more conservative Mexicans have - The world's reaction to the news of Claudia Sheinbaum's win - How Mexico has changed A LOT in the last few years - What these election results mean for foreigners and expats living in Mexico Watch our entire breakdown here: https://lnkd.in/eGjHAekn

What were the biggest German cities (within the current borders) over the last 1000 years? In the Middle Ages, the most populous and influential cities in Germany were mainly the free and imperial cities, such as Cologne, Nuremberg, Augsburg, Lübeck, and Strasbourg. In the early modern period, the Thirty Years’ War (1618-1648) devastated many cities and reduced their population and importance. The rise of Prussia and the Habsburg Empire also shifted the political and economic power to their capitals, Berlin and Vienna, respectively. In the 19th century, the Industrial Revolution and the unification of Germany in 1871 led to a rapid urbanization and growth of many cities, especially in the Ruhr area, such as Essen, Dortmund, and Duisburg, as well as in other regions, such as Hamburg, Munich, and Stuttgart. In the 20th century, the two world wars and the division of Germany had a profound impact on the urban landscape. Many cities were heavily bombed and destroyed, and some were divided by the Iron Curtain, such as Berlin and Frankfurt. After the war, the reconstruction and the economic miracle (Wirtschaftswunder) restored and modernized many cities, especially in West Germany. The reunification of Germany in 1990 also brought new opportunities and challenges for urban development. I'd like to hear what you observed in this timeline and feel free to share your feedback/suggestions for the next one. #urbanism #history #Germany
