Tomorrow is National STEM/STEAM Day when we celebrate and promote the fields of science, technology, the arts, engineering and mathematics and encourage our young people (and adults!) into related careers such as aerospace. Sadly, there is a skills gap within the engineering sector, but as engineering companies, is it down to us to invest in the next generation? Read our new blog that dives deeper into this challenge and make your own mind up. The link to the blog can be found in the comments.

#UCDavis announced that it recently moved up the list of Top Public Universities to “Number 6 among the nation’s top public universities — a significant achievement driven by our research, teaching and service mission”. CONGRATULATIONS‼️🎉🎈 Now take it a step further, UC Davis has the ONLY four-year #InclusiveCollege program in the UC system. Students with #IntellectualDisabilities living and learning and working on the UC Davis campus with their same-age peers…and the experience impacts the undergrads and grad students in a positive way. So, all those accolades are legit. UCDavis has found a ground-breaking way to expand and serve one of the most vulnerable student populations in our country…and while it was doing that, it moved UP in rankings. The other Top Five…what are they doing for the most vulnerable? Maybe that should be the question we ask when we are ranking universities? #CollegeRankings #ChooseToInclude
UC Davis reached new levels of prestige and impact in 2023. We rose to No. 6 among the nation’s top public universities — a significant achievement driven by our research, teaching and service mission. Faculty and students continued to make groundbreaking discoveries in science and sustainability, surpassing $1 billion in external research funding for a second consecutive year. We were also recognized as the No. 1 greenest campus in the U.S. and the world’s fifth most sustainable university. Read the full report: https://lnkd.in/gz2MnySH

Congratulations to Shaan Jagani and Christopher Kwon, both second year graduate students in MIT AeroAstro, for receiving the 2024 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship! The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program supports outstanding graduate students who are pursuing research-based master’s or doctoral degrees in STEM — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — or in STEM education. This support includes an annual stipend and a cost-of-education allowance towards tuition and fees. The overall goal of the Graduate Research Fellowship Program is to recruit individuals into Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields; to select, recognize, and financially support individuals who have demonstrated the potential to be high achieving scientists and engineers, early in their careers; and to broaden participation in science and engineering of underrepresented groups, including women, minorities, persons with disabilities, and veterans. NSF Fellows are anticipated to become experts whose work contributed significantly to research, teaching, and innovations in science and engineering.

This week, we're stepping into the exciting world of discovery and innovation as we celebrate British Science Week! Here's a bit about why it's a pivotal moment for learners, educators, and thought leaders alike. The power of science is extraordinary, transforming our understanding of the vast cosmos to the intricate workings of our own DNA. British Science Week is an annual celebration that shines a spotlight on the vibrant world of science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) in the UK. 🧪🔬 At its heart, this week is about inspiration. Young minds are encouraged to delve into experiments, older students to consider STEM careers, and adults to appreciate the science that shapes our daily lives. There's a palpable energy as institutions open their doors, hosting workshops, lectures, and activities, sparking curiosity across all ages. From the rolling hills of the Scottish Highlands to the dynamic cityscapes of London, science acts as a unifying language. It's in the way we tackle climate change, how we push the boundaries of medicine, and in the technologies that keep us connected. These pursuits not only promise a brighter, more informed future but continue a legacy that has seen British scientists like Newton, Darwin, and Hawking change the course of history. 🇬🇧💡 Let's use this week to not just celebrate achievements but also to raise crucial questions about our collective future. How can we ensure sustainable growth? In what ways can science education become more accessible? Dialogue kindled during British Science Week has the potential to lead to meaningful change. As we engage with science this week, remember that every question asked, every theory tested, brings us closer to understanding the world we share. I'd love to hear how science has impacted your life. Drop a comment below and let's spark a conversation! #BritishScienceWeek #STEM #Innovation
