Shoutout to our crew in Anderson, CA. Taking a few moments to admire the Shasta Cascade region. They've been working tirelessly alongside our electric line crews to underground powerlines. Undergrounding overhead lines make the grid safer and more resilient to climate change and mitigates the threat of equipment-caused wildfires.

What if here in the US, we can increase the Southwest states’ resilience against droughts, climate change, and other water-related challenges? What if the Northeast can generate a significant revenue stream in the process? What if there is minimal environmental impact, and water wins for everyone? All of this can be done. Kudos to Alice Volpitta, the Baltimore Harbor Waterkeeper at Blue Water Baltimore, who has dedicated nearly a decade to monitoring water quality in Baltimore's watershed. The city's waterways grapple with various challenges, including stormwater runoff, trash, toxins, and sewage overflows. These overflows underscore the climate injustice and lack of infrastructure investment in Baltimore's black neighborhoods, where homes become temporary cesspools for excess sewage. Recently, Alice played a pivotal role in negotiating a consent decree with the Maryland Department of the Environment and Baltimore City. This agreement addresses violations at the state’s two largest wastewater treatment plants, resulting in nearly $5 million in penalties. It stands as the largest clean water enforcement action in Maryland in the last 25 years. Transform is committed to stopping highway expansion. In a time of extreme climate crisis, we can’t afford to build infrastructure that bakes in decades of further warming and undercuts our public and active transportation investments. Unfortunately, Caltrans District 4 and the Contra Costa Transportation Authority are planning to do just that on Interstate 680. https://lnkd.in/gfv9pb2k #HighwayExpansion #ClimateCrisis #TransportationJustice #PublicTransportation #BayArea

Our streams need big forests. Northeast Minnesota’s trout streams once ran cold and clear. Now, they are threatened by climate change and deforestation. The vegetation along a stream is essential for keeping our waterways healthy. The Nature Conservancy is working to restore river and streambanks with long-living trees to sustain environments for trout and other wildlife for decades in a warming climate. https://nature.ly/3tCHWUD
