While there is still no cure for Alzheimer's, there's hope in prevention. On last night's CBS4 Miami's special, Illuminating Alzheimer's, Lauren Pastrana interviewed Dr Agronin, Chief Medical Officer of the Frank C. and Lynn Scaduto MIND Institute at Miami Jewish Health, about our Alzheimer’s Prevention Program. Designed to keep aging minds sharp participants like Charles and Jacqueline James, who were also featured, decided to take a proactive approach with their cognitive health by joining the program. Dr. Agronin explains, “Prevention is a new buzzword. We know from research that about 40% of risk factors can be modified. Even though you can’t change your genes, there’s so much more we can do to identify and reduce these risk factors.” Watch the full story here: https://lnkd.in/eMgcCXkH (https://lnkd.in/eMgcCXkH) #AlzheimersAwareness #BrainHealth #Prevention #HealthyAging #MiamiJewishHealth #FrankCandLynnScadutoMINDInstitute #LiveLifeBetter

To mark World Alzheimer's Day on September 21, a collective of professionals from the healthcare, community, academic, life sciences and public health sectors, as well as caregivers and the general public, joined forces to raise awareness among Quebecers of the prevalence of major neurocognitive disorders (MND) in our society. In an open letter, they put forward a number of proposals for reducing the growth of Alzheimer's disease, encouraging progress in the care of those diagnosed and their families, and in the prevention of the disease. Although the prevalence of neurocognitive disorders is on the rise, it's important to remember that several studies have shown that 45% of cases of CMND are associated with modifiable risk factors. Learn more about the prevalence and cost of MND in our society, as well as the solutions proposed by the Collectif in this open letter. #Alzheimermontreal #AlzheimerMtl #WorldAlzheimersDay #NeurocognitiveDisorders #AlzheimersAwareness #HealthcareProfessionals #QuebecHealth #PublicHealth #CaregiverSupport #LifeSciences #MNDawareness #CognitiveHealth
