This is a really really important issue. And while Canada may be really bad in timely access to care, I have to say the US is just as bad if not worse with the added constant fighting of insurance and PBMs that only want to deny or delay care. I know it has influenced my thoughts on how long I want to be fighting the US healthcare system which consumes hours upon hours every month. #ALS #alsawareness #MAID #healthcare #healthcaresystems

Compounded for those who have to fight for care resources and also live in a state that has no path to Death With Dignity, if that’s how they wish to manage their ALS journey. Even sadder though to think that someone might pursue that path because the gaps in health and personal care that exist in our wealthy societies pushed them to that place.

Thank you Michael for keeping healthcare system failures front and center, across ALS and more. I cannot imagine the energy it takes for you and other persons living with ALS to fight on so many fronts. Please know that your mental and physical energy expended to share your thoughts through these posts to fight on behalf of countless others is valued and valuable. And meanwhile we will keep doing what we can, personally or professionally or both, to fight in ways we can help.🙏
