Unveiling today: Reach Out and Read’s new public policy agenda advocates for young children and their families and recommends that policymakers and partners create and/or improve systems crucial to public health and early literacy. Robust cross-sector investments are needed to connect the worlds of primary health care, early learning, and public health. How did the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) learn how it could improve its quality rating and improvement system? With a partnership with researchers from Urban Institute and the perspectives of more than 1,300 child care providers and parents, the team developed key findings and recommendations for DECAL. These recommendations can be used by other states as they think about how they can better support equity.
