I love my Wife deeply, and I have a number of family members and friends that I also have some degree of love for. This is to be expected. However, I wanted to take a moment to express some love for my current employer, Griffith Company, especially since we are still in the month where love is most celebrated: February. With that said, below are "10 Reasons Why I Love Working for Griffith Company" (in no particular order): 1) Our company's storied history - over 120 years of building California. 2) We are 100% employee-owned - I am a co-owner of this company and truly share in its progress and profitability. 3) Our competitive benefits package - Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), 401(k) with match, full medical, dental and vision plans, paid time off and more. 4) We are well respected in our industry (heavy civil construction). 5) Accessible Leadership - our senior level leaders are very busy (as to be expected), but do have an open-door policy. 6) I have a wonderful boss who trusts me, advocates for me and supports me personally as well as professionally. 7) I am valued for who I am and for the contributions that I endeavor to make to the company. 8) I am allowed to do work that aligns with my strengths and passions. 9) The people (of course) - I am blessed to work with some very nice, fun and truly good human beings. 10) Our company's tremendous success - the last 4-5 years have been among our best as a company, and we are continuing to grow and thrive. I never try to convince anyone that Griffith Company is a perfect company, because I know that we are not, and I also don't believe there is a perfect company. However, I am convinced that the leaders of my company want to do the right thing and try to do right by our employees, our industry partners and the communities where we do our work - this is good enough for me. This past week, in addition to hosting the Northeast Regional Summit with Catalyst Kitchens, we at Forge City Works also underwent a full standards review with them. This included a review of our job training program, as well as our sociel enterprises Fire by Forge and The Grocery on Broad. After the review, we were awarded the designation of being a Model Member, which is pretty cool. I am proud of all the work our team does every day to help set the bar high on workforce development, our social enterprises, and overall organizational health. The standards review includes the following: 1. EMPOWERMENT THROUGH JOB TRAINING - Program outcomes - Program structure - Hard skill and soft skill curriculum - Wrap-around services 2.
