Osteoporosis is a condition affecting bone health; it weakens bones, making them susceptible to fractures even from minor falls. This condition is prevalent among older adults, especially postmenopausal women. As custodians of employee health, HR and occupational wellbeing teams should be aware their older staff are at heightened risk of osteoporosis and should implement strategic corporate wellness initiatives such as access to physiotherapy. #physio #menopause #osteoporosis https://lnkd.in/dKMDtPnJ

Why does endometriosis make it difficult for a person to work on a strict 9-5 office routine? Our resident advisor Dr Ramiro Carbrera, an Endometriosis Expert & Excision Surgeon at Angel's Hospital Londo and Institute Doyenne gives us a clear and concise explanation here. Among these, challenges like irregular bowel movements and heavy menstrual flow often go unnoticed but can significantly affect an individual's productivity and comfort at work. By acknowledging and addressing these issues proactively, employers can create a more supportive and inclusive environment for all employees. Providing access to necessary resources, such as adequate restroom facilities and hygiene products demonstrates a commitment to promoting holistic wellness within the workplace. Moreover, fostering open communication and destigmatizing discussions around health concerns encourages employees to seek assistance when needed, ultimately enhancing overall morale and productivity. Prioritizing employee health and well-being isn't just a moral imperative—it's also a strategic investment in a happier, more engaged workforce. #WorkplaceWellness #EmployeeHealth #InclusiveWorkEnvironment [Text reads: “For those with endometriosis, work can be challenging due to severe menstrual cramps, overwhelming fatigue, excessive menstrual flow, and digestive issues such as nausea or irregular bowel movements. These symptoms can significantly hinder concentration and efficiency at work.”]

𝗢𝗻 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗞 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. (Back and neck problems driving major UK health crisis, say medical leaders | Health | The Guardian). 😩 According to figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the number of people classed as economically inactive due to back or neck problems between January and March 2023 had risen by 28% compared to the same period in 2019. ⬆️ Alongside the fact that people are working for longer, health leaders have cited a range of factors as contributing to this rise, including increased sedentary behaviour and obesity, injury, stress, physically demanding jobs and working from home without the right set-up.🖥️ They also highlighted how long NHS waiting lists for treatment have further compounded the issue. As the article states, prompt physiotherapy assessment, advice and rehabilitation can successfully resolve or improve back or neck problems in most cases. However, the delay in people being able to access the right support at the right time has left more people in severe pain and at risk of developing other health conditions, such as depression. Providing access to physiotherapy services through work to help employees access the advice and treatment they need sooner is something that more and more organisations are now considering. 🙌 But employers also have an important role to play in helping to reduce the risk of staff developing work-related musculoskeletal problems in the first place by ensuring that their work environment and practices are set up to support optimal ergonomic health. 👏 𝘏𝘢𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘢 𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘣𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘥𝘶𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘬-𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘴? In today’s fast-paced work environment, preventing injuries is crucial for maintaining a healthy and productive workforce. Fortunately, chiropractic care can play a vital role in keeping employees safe and injury-free. By addressing misalignments and imbalances in the musculoskeletal system, chiropractors can provide proactive care that helps prevent workplace injuries. Regular adjustments keep the spine aligned and optimize overall body function and mobility. This, in turn, reduces the risk of strains, sprains, and other common workplace injuries. Chiropractors can also provide valuable guidance on proper lifting techniques, ergonomics, and exercises to strengthen key muscles. Investing in chiropractic care as a preventive measure can yield long-term benefits, including improved productivity, reduced absenteeism, and increased employee satisfaction. Don’t wait for an injury to occur – be proactive in safeguarding your well-being and ensuring a safe working environment. Bill Snyder, CEO of Cylinder, shares the 2024 State of Gut Health in the Workplace survey report and results. Discover why many employees feel uncomfortable discussing digestive issues with employers and may cite other reasons when taking time off for gastrointestinal (GI) distress. It's time for benefit leaders to address this stigma and promote better employee digestive health. Download the report to learn more about the impact of GI symptoms on workplace productivity and costs: https://lnkd.in/gh4GgEV7
Did you know that 59% of American employees who experience gastrointestinal (GI) issues at least a few times a month or who are diagnosed with a GI condition said they had missed a day of work, left early, or came in late due to GI issues? The newly released Cylinder 2024 State of Gut Health in the Workplace survey report also reveals that many employees don’t feel comfortable mentioning their GI issues to their employers. They either say they need time off for another reason or suffer in silence. For benefit leaders, knowing what employees struggle with is critical to moving the conversation forward. While our society has progressed in talking about gut health, GI topics still hold a stigma in the workplace, and it’s time to change that. Download and read the Cylinder 2024 State of Gut Health in the Workplace survey report to learn more about the impact of digestive distress on workplace productivity and the costs for employers and individuals.
