At the opening of Day # 3 of the 20th-anniversary (!!) #EuraxessBiennial2024 in Katowice, very stimulating keynote lecture on the future of research careers by Manuel Heitor, former Portuguese Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, CESAER Envoy on Research Careers and Chair of the HLG group on FP10 : Ø Substantial increase of the number or researchers in Europe over the last 20 years not matched by increase in quality jobs ; Ø Technical support structure for researchers is 1 for 1 in the US against 1 for 5 in Europe ; Ø Need for a new program at EU level to co-fund institutions towards strengthening research careers.

It spans the fields of analytical, inorganic, organic, physical, and theoretical chemistry, chemical technology and physics. The RTG’s central goal is training tomorrow’s workforce in emerging technologies that exploit the unique properties of the hydrogen isotopes, 1,2,3H, in order to contribute to revolutionising drug design strategies, converting radioactive waste into precious materials, and, in the long run, a CO2-emission-free energy supply for the planet. https://lnkd.in/djzeCcsn

The EU R&I Days are at full steam! UASNL is looking forward to activities celebrating the 40-year journey through the Research and Innovation Framework Programmes. The visibility and recognition of applied research in Brussels has increased. It's a success story! UASNL is here to collaborate with European partners and strengthen applied research and educational programmes. In doing so, it aims to create a mature position for Dutch Universities of Applied Sciences in EU policy initiatives and European collaborations. Highlights include: ·      European Regions Research & Innovation Network’s (ERRIN) Networking Reception, hearing from #ERRINmembers, the European Commission and Commission Expert Group on #FP10, ·      Meeting with the Permanent Representation of the Netherlands to the EU, ·      Participating in the R&I Café at Neth-ER (Netherlands house for Education and Research) and meeting with some of its officers, ·      Discussing the EU Cohesion Policy with The House of the Dutch Provinces Huis van de Nederlandse Provincies, ·      Discussing digitalization, EUIs and mutual recognition of diplomas and professional qualifications with the Benelux Union and ·      Meeting with UAS4EUROPE to discuss the role of UASs in the next EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. This week will give the opportunity to look together towards the future of the EU Research & Innovation. With a call for a significant increase in research budgets, the Research Matters campaign aims to foster innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness across various sectors such as industry, economy, and social development. We call for: 🔵 Increase in R&D investments, reaching over 3% of the GDP within the European Union and throughout all European countries 🔵 Doubling the budget for the EU’s next research programme, FP10, and protecting that budget by ring-fencing it. In the X-Net's workshop "PREPARING THE ROADMAP: PRIORITISING CROSSDISCIPLINARY TRAINING NEEDS WITH INDUSTRY”, we analysed  how to strengthen links and promote interdisciplinary industry-academia collaborations. We also explored the main barriers to interdisciplinary industry-academia collaborations and how interdisciplinary research can help answer future industry-related grand challenges. https://lnkd.in/eEYQ_gUd

THECUC 2023 DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION OF HIGHER EDUCATION: INNOVATIONS FOR THE FUTURE OF LEARNING & TEACHING conference, organized by CARNET - Croatian Academic and Research Network, brought to light an exciting venture in the realm of quantum communications - the #CroQCI project. This ambitious initiative is directed towards the deployment of experimental quantum communication systems and networks, which will be enhanced and integrated with a spectrum of established secure communication technologies. Thanks to our panel moderator Matko Mužević, and panalists: Marija Emšo, and Dunja Ivković from CARNET, Davor Jovanovic from the SRCE, Martin Loncaric from the Ruđer Bošković Institute, and Dragan Peraković, from the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, University of Zagreb/Sveuciliste u Zagrebu for giving a great talk and presentation. In the X-Net's workshop "PREPARING THE ROADMAP: PRIORITISING CROSSDISCIPLINARY TRAINING NEEDS WITH INDUSTRY”, we analysed how to strengthen links and promote interdisciplinary industry-academia collaborations and how to increase porosity across sectors. Porosity allows for research to be a journey, travelling across the leading edge of disciplines and sectors, rather than “arriving” at a set destination (e.g., at a discovery or academic position). https://lnkd.in/eEYQ_gUd
