#BlossomEndRot, the brownish black spot in tomato is a physiological condition associated with localized calcium deficiency. It is not a food safety issue but this condition may create a crack/cracks on the tomato which allows food borne pathogens to enter into the tomato. Those food borne pathogens are threatening for health. As a farmer be aware of blossom end rot. You must not ruin your harvesting for it. Take proper steps to stop it immediately! Although leafy greens, like lettuce and spinach, have found themselves at the center of some high-profile food safety recalls, it’s important to put CEA-grown leafy greens’ potential share of those illnesses into context. The consumer risk from foodborne illness caused by CEA-grown leafy greens is vanishingly small — though certainly not zero.
