I'm Andy Lloyd, and have had a passion for radio all my life. Which is why I am re-launching several 'heritage’, local stations online, recreating the magic, sound and excitement of radio, as it used to be. Over the past few years, the radio landscape across the UK has changed. Local stations have disappeared, replaced by repetitive, robotic, and remote formats. Most of the content comes from London, so there is no local identity, no practical purpose and the same output 24/7 - much like a cold-water tap! Our project is designed to bring back real radio for real people. Our target audience is aged 40+, and our mix of music and programming will really suit all tastes. Less Global, More Local, you could say. The network we will be launching comprises 23 stations. We have a fully operational studio, the technology is in place, and we are running test transmissions, with a plan to launch the full stations soon. The project is a not-for-profit social enterprise, Independent Local Radio Limited, and we hold the UK trademarks for our stations, including Chiltern Radio, County Sound, Radio Victory, Pennine Radio, Radio Orwell, Southern Sound, Saxon Radio, WABC Radio and KCBC Radio. So far, I have funded everything myself, but as you can imagine, the costs involved are considerable so now we need your help. I’d be delighted to answer any questions, invite you to see the studio, and am keen to meet you, if you’d like to be involved. Contributions will be used for a subscription to a professional news service, music royalties, quality websites, alongside other innovations, such as Alexa Skills and iOS/Android apps. Having invested 10 years’ work into this enterprise, I know it WILL happen. We are almost there, but for the last few, very important, elements.
