Happy World Penguin Day! 💜💚🐧 🌍 Did you know? Adélie penguins start their migration North around this day every year, a pattern that is inherent and conserved across generations.  Of the 18 known living species of penguin, 10 have been listed as endangered. #WorldPenguinDay on April 25 aims to raise awareness about these flightless birds to preserve their species so that future generations get to see these elegant and remarkable creatures. What do penguins and CMOs have in common? Penguins thrive in some of the most extreme conditions on Earth. 🐧 King penguins can dive 1,000+ feet under the ocean. 🐧 Rockhoppers can scale steep, rocky cliffs. 🐧 Fiordland penguins make their homes deep in the rainforest. A group of these highly social, nurturing, curious, adaptable, and problem-solving birds is called a huddle. And the B2B marketing leaders in CMO Huddles are all that and more, helping each other (and their teams) outswim the most challenging job in the “Sea-Suite." A concerted effort is needed to help reduce our carbon footprint and prevent pollution to preserve their habitat. Thus, CMO Huddles donates 1% of annual revenue to the Global Penguin Society.

100 trees closer to my goal! 🌳 Thanks to the simple idea of #TreesForTalks that anyone can try in 3 simple steps! Last weekend, I got to plant not 1, not 10, but a 100 trees! 🌳 I'm trying something new: #TreesForTalks: for every talk I give, trees are planted! 🌱 The simple idea behind #TreesForTalks - encouraging organizers to plant trees for every speaking engagement. I've always identified with the Japanese concept of shinrin-yoku (forest bathing) and experienced firsthand how being in nature tackles stress, relaxes, and inspires creativity. With a goal of planting 1000 trees, I hope to restore a little bit of that forest we all need on earth. 🌏 #TreesForTalks started when the amazing Tarun Matta and his team at Juno School of Business who are democratizing job skills, invited me to kickstart with a masterclass on "Can Sellers Be Marketers?" and were immediately on board with the idea of #TreesForTalks! 🙌 We partnered with the wonderful Apurva Bhandari and his team at SankalpTaru Foundation to not only plant but also take care of these trees for years to come! 🌿🌱 ✅ With this, I am at 40% of my goal to plant 1000 trees in this lifetime! From Conscious Business to Conscious Giving Back It is naturally in the field of Conscious Business that I meet experienced business women and men who, after successfully building up one or more companies, are launching a next project, a project with a content that is particularly close to their hearts. A project for the common good. A project with which they want to give back to nature, to the community,...   A higher-purposeful project like this may be first initiated by a single person's call to giving back – however it may be designed so that many more people can get involved and increase the impact of the cause. Many hearts getting touched, excited, wanting to support. Today I would like to introduce you to a project that too can touch us all and, in a broader sense, does concern us all. Panambi, an initiative by Silvia Hagen and the Panambi Association, was created to preserve and reforest rainforest in Paraguay, to provide a protected space for species and variety diversity, to foster cooperation between cultures, ... You can find many more sensible arguments and heartwarming benefits for the project on the website www.panambi.org Silvia impresses me with her great clarity and sensitivity, which a project and the people in it need so that “it flows well”. (Solving seemingly unsolvable IT network problems used to be her specialty). Even within first steps and results of the Panambi projects' this clarity and heart-opening quality is palpable. There are often flashes of the magic that nature unfolds when you walk with it, learn from it and appreciate it. Today is World Water Day. First of all, what a week filled with celebrating nature: •⁠ ⁠World Rewilding Day - March 20 •⁠ ⁠World Forests Day - March 21 Who comes up with these anyway? 😀 On World Water Day, I want to celebrate our oceans. Oceans and seas are very close to my heart. I understood the value of our oceans and the biodiversity they nurture after a project I was engaged with last year. The project was about setting a strategy to protect the coast and marine environments in conjunction with tourism development. Some facts about our oceans: •⁠ ⁠Oceans are our bloodline - they produce approximately 50% of the world’s oxygen •⁠ ⁠Ocean wealth is valued at USD 24 trillion •⁠ ⁠More than two-thirds of this value relies on healthy conditions •⁠ ⁠Livelihood of more than 40 m people relies on ocean-based industries But we are very close to critical tipping points being passed. I will not dig deeper into what we have done and what that means. I would like to keep it positive on this Friday. But one learning has stayed with me: We need to respect the boundaries of the nature we operate in. We need to respect that each ecosystem has its own capacity. Have you ever pick up a trash around your home or at workplace compound? If you have never, in conjunction with International Volunteer Day this month, I suggest you just do trash clean up 5 mins a day or once a week, you are already volunteering doing a good cause. Volunteering for a good cause does not need to do big or go far, simple act to clean up and ensure your home / workplace area trash free, 3R at home and in workplace to reduce waste to landfills, plant some pollinators flowers to provide food source for bees, butterflies and their polly friends, plant a bamboo pagar to capture carbon, also provide more oxygen, which cools the air, ensuring your environment is clean, tidy, keeping the biodiversity in your compound healthy is good enough within your capacity, and now imagine if everyone does the same, then you won't have trash clog the drain, no trash / waste flow into river, the ocean is then plastic free and waste free, hence, no need countless and endless river and beach clean out, which only addresses the symptoms of the problem but did not solve the root cause of the problem, right? 💧 Meandering Mondays with Water (ep 52) 💧 🎉 We did it! 🎉 This week marks one year of engaging community discussions on corporate water topics through the Meandering Mondays posts! A few months ago, I was listening to a podcast with Trevor Noah and he made this point reflecting on observations he had made about a group discussing difficult topics, head said: “We are either unable, unwilling, or too scared to share [these ideas]. And I thought to myself if we cannot have conversations about difficult things, if the conversations themselves are now the difficult things, then what hope do we have of fixing the difficult things? Let's come to a consensus, let's walk away still fighting, but understand each other a little more. But most importantly, let's have the conservation" I don’t think this community is unwilling to share its views, but water's complex, local nature often leads to different and unique perspectives on how to solve these challenges. These diverse perspectives are a valuable community asset we don’t fully leverage. Creating a space to encourage the sharing of this diversity of perspectives is a key motivation behind Meandering Mondays. While I track quantitative engagement metrics, qualitative feedback seems to indicate that even silent readers find the discussions helpful in shaping their thinking. This progress is a result of the community’s willingness to share ideas constructively, and that’s why "we did it" together. My goal for Meandering Mondays over the next year is to keep creating value for this community by evolving the focus, style and structure of the segment and doubling the engagement KPIs. Some of this is on me but here is how you can help on a weekly basis: 💭 Comment 👏 React 📢 Share All of this helps broaden the discussion and bring in new voices, thanks to how the LinkedIn algorithm works!
