China has just launched exercise Joint Sword - 2024a, which has surrounded Taiwan with a joint force of some of their most modern combat assets. Joint Sword is focusing on “joint maritime and air combat readiness patrols, joint seizure of comprehensive battlefield control and joint precision attacks on key targets.” These types of exercises can be used for mission rehearsal in addition to strategic messaging. In the current geopolitical context this type of exercise is provocative and highlights the need for well-trained, credible deterrence forces in the region.

Canada to participate in NATO's largest exercise in decades: Steadfast Defender 2024 The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) will participate in NATO's largest exercise in decades from the end of January to May 2024, deploying around 1,000 members to rehearse NATO’s Deterrence and Defence plans against Euro-Atlantic threats. This multi-month exercise simulates an Article 5 attack, divided into maritime defense of the North Atlantic and Arctic, and rapid deployment in Central and Eastern Europe. Assets include the HMCS Charlottetown with a CH-148 Cyclone helicopter, and a Canadian-led battle group in Latvia, featuring a Leopard 2 tank squadron. This operation marks a key step for the future Canadian-led Multinational Brigade in Latvia, enhancing CAF's integration within NATO's structure, reflecting Canada's commitment to NATO since Crimea's invasion in 2014. https://lnkd.in/gS_mfSru

Awesome demonstration of cooperation between the armed forces of he Philippines and the US demonstrating the williningness and capability to defend the Luzon Strait (Critical Maritime Terrain for the Philippines, Japan, and Taiwan). What is concerning is that there was no surface element to this operation. Rotary/tilt rotor operations will be very vulnerable to air defense. Both the Russians and Ukrainians have stopped trying to do air assaults attempting to penetrate the air defenses of their enemy. Having small boats equivalent of the CB90 would be a game changer if not absolutely necessary in such an operation. Italy Enhances Air Defense: Orders Four SAMP/T NG Systems Europe's Organization for Joint Armament Co-operation has finalized a contract for four SAMP/T NG air-defense systems to bolster Italy's military capabilities. The move comes as part of a broader effort by European armed forces to modernize their missile defense systems. The contract amendment includes upgraded Aster air defense missiles for both the Italian army and navy. Furthermore, it paves the way for future serial production of SAMP/T NG systems for the French Air Force and entails additional equipment procurement for the mid-life update of the UK's Aster interceptors. The SAMP/T NG system, an enhanced version of existing models, boasts advanced Aster interceptors and multifunctional radars. South Korea and the United States commenced a combined air exercise on July 23, aimed at enhancing joint combat capabilities in response to North Korea's evolving threats. The drills are scheduled to take place until August 8 at Suwon Air Base, featuring U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18C/D and F-35B fighters, along with South Korean F-16, FA-50, KA-1, and F-15K aircraft. Training will focus on base fighter maneuvers, close air support, air interdiction, and defense counter air, improving interoperability among the allied forces. From April 15-17, Allied Air Command hosted a conference of experts in the field of Agile Combat Employment or ACE to continue refining and coordinating the concept among Allied Air Forces. ACE is an operational scheme of manoeuvre designed to improve resilience and survivability while generating air combat power from both home bases and geographically dispersed locations. It can be used proactively or reactively involving main or deployed operating bases or contingency locations. Implementing ACE deployments requires a flexible, well prepared and coordinated approach by the deploying force and the receiving bases. Overall the ACE programme is designed as a plug and play concept for commanders and planners to use to increase survivability while maintaining uninterrupted operational capability. The focus of this conference was three fold; complete the operational design to assist in our quest to create official NATO ACE doctrine, further develop bed down plans to allow Host and Sending Nation coordination in setting the theatre and lastly to gain more fidelity of national Aircraft Cross Servicing programmes which will enhance ACE capabilities. #military #defense #defence #militaryleak #nato https://lnkd.in/gbVSEiXq

🔔 Breaking News! 🔔 U.S. Forces, alongside UK Armed Forces and with support from Australia, Bahrain, Canada, and the Netherlands, have conducted strikes on 8 Houthi targets in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen. 🌍🎯 These strikes targeted areas used to attack international merchant vessels and U.S. Navy ships. Biggest Air Combat Drill Gaganshakti 2024 to Conduct Near Pakistan Border India preparing for possible Two Front War with China Pakistan The Indian Air Force (IAF) will conduct Gaganshakti, a large-scale war drill along its western and eastern borders, starting next week. This 10-day exercise aims to evaluate the IAF's preparedness against Pakistan and is anticipated to surpass the scale of the previous all-air force exercise in 2018, which involved over 1150 aircraft in 13 days. 🛦 Beginning April 1, 2024, the IAF will activate nearly its entire fleet to test integrated warfare strategies with the Indian Army and Navy. The exercises will cover all terrain types and focus on various combat and operational scenarios, including aerial and air-to-surface combat, paratrooper assaults, and medical evacuations. Gaganshakti-2024 plans to show off almost all of India's military tech including the indigenous LCH Prachand, LCA Tejas, French Rafales, C-295 transport aircraft, BrahMos missiles with Sukhoi jets, and the Russian S-400 missile system.
