Critical Minerals (CMR) was marked up 36% as it unveiled the acquisition of 26 new licences in Morocco, adding significant scale to a fast-growing portfolio of assets in the country. CMR already has interest in the Anzar #copper #silver project and the Zagora cobalt project, but the new licences take it into antimony, #tungsten, lead-zinc and #gold as well. It should have a good heads-up on what the potential is as one of the vendors of Hesperis, the Moroccan company being acquired to get the licences, is CMR’s chief operating officer Noureddine Sabraoui. The licences are situated in the Rabat, Beni-Mellal, Agadir and Errachidia administrative regions covering approximately 400 sq km and regions that boast several historical and current mining sites with established road and power infrastructure. Shares rose 1p to 3.75p. More at #Proactive #ProactiveInvestors http://ow.ly/xC3c10593Qe #LSE #CMRS

Asara Resources is an ASX (#AS1) listed #exploration company with a portfolio of advanced minerals projects in #Guinea and Burkina Faso, West Africa and in Chile, South America. The Company’s flagship project is the advanced #Kada #Gold Project in Eastern Guinea. Guinea remains one of the most under-explored countries in West Africa. Asara has outlined an Indicated and Inferred Mineral Resource of 30.3Mt at 0.95g/t gold for 923Koz, the majority of which is shallow oxide gold mineralisation. Most of the 150km2 project area remains under explored and there is considerable upside to expand the oxide gold inventory. The team has completed a considerable amount of diamond drilling (4,500m) to ascertain the structural orientations of the deposit to ensure we are moving in the down the correct path and there are no surprises as we move towards potential development. This drill out of the Massan area has resulted in a resource that is over 25% indicated (global) and 40% of the oxide resource is now indicated. In addition to the large drill out of our Massan area, the company increased the work on Bereko (9km north of Massan). Bereko has been drilled out around 300m and yielded 18,000 ounces to date. The anomaly around Bereko extends for an additional 5km so there is potentially huge upside there. In addition to Bereko the company has identified six ”grassroots” targets along the 15km long belt, including the Sounkou and Nounkoun new discoveries. Sounkou in particular exhibits some of the fresh rock seen at AGA’s Siguiri Mine, just 35km away. Elsewhere, the company is exploring options to divest our 2 million ounce deposit in Burkina Faso and the team are confident to monetize this asset in 2024. In #Chile, the company has an ongoing, exciting, JV with Teck, one of the worlds largest copper miners. Teck are working aggressively on the Loreto Copper Porphyry having completed mapping and airborne geophysics in 2023.

Oriole Resources PLC (AIM:ORR) has identified a new mineralised zone within the licence areas at its Bibemi project in Cameroon Sampling at the new prospect, Lawa West, returned 17 rock chips grading over 0.5 grammes per tonne (g/t) gold from quartz vein material, with best results of 54.50g/t Au and 38.40g/t Au. Mapping at Lawa West has also extended the mineralised strike length of to 6 kilometres increasing the total mineralised trend at Bibemi to 17 Km. Partner BCM International is currently funding up to US$4 million in exploration expenditure in return for up to a 50% interest in the project. Martin Rosser, chief executive, added: said: "The results reported for Lawa West are encouraging as they significantly expand the potential mineralised corridor length of the prospect, and the overall system at Bibemi. The Congo River is the deepest river in the world and the longest river in central and western Africa. With a total length of 4,640 kilometers, it ranks second in Africa, second only to the Nile River, and is the ninth longest river in the world. The Congo River basin covers an area of 4.01 million square kilometers. In terms of flow rate, the Congo River is the second largest river in the world after the Amazon River. The average flow rate is more than 40,000 cubic meters per second, and the maximum flow rate in history has reached 81,000 cubic meters per second. This is the must do work for dredging in Congo

Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (TSX:IVN, OTCQX:IVPAF), the Canadian #mining giant, reached a significant milestone as the first shipment of #copper concentrate from its Kamoa-Kakula Copper Complex in the Democratic Republic of #Congo (DRC) arrived at the Atlantic Ocean port of Lobito, #Angola. The transportation is part of a trial tonnage under a memorandum of understanding signed between Lobito Atlantic International SARL (LAI) and Kamoa Copper in August 2023. The Lobito Atlantic Railway Corridor, extending 1,289 kilometers from the DRC Copperbelt to Lobito, Angola, facilitated the historic shipment. This rail link is set to transform the logistics landscape, connecting the #CentralAfricanCopperbelt to global markets efficiently. The trial, involving the transportation of up to 10,000 tonnes of #CopperConcentrate, aims to collect data on #GreenhouseGas savings, transit times, operating costs, and other factors. In 2023 approximately 90% of Kamoa-Kakula’s concentrates were shipped to international customers from the ports of Durban in South Africa and Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, where an average round-trip takes between approximately 40 and 50 days. The distance from Kamoa-Kakula in the DRC to the port of Lobito in Angola is approximately half that compared with the port of Durban and transportation by rail is both quicker and significantly less energy-intensive. Once fully active, the Lobito Atlantic Railway Corridor is expected to significantly improve the logistics costs and reduce the Scope 3 emissions carbon footprint of Kamoa-Kakula copper exports. The development of Ivanhoe’s current and future copper discoveries within the Western Foreland basin will also greatly benefit from the Lobito Corridor. #whyafrica #africa #whymineafrica #copper #mining #cobalt #ports #rail #lobito #angola #zambia #DRC #criticalminerals #africanmining #mininginafrica #whyafricaroadtrips https://lnkd.in/dBN5nvyM
