Scaling the production capacity of a 3D print farm is mostly linear, but scaling post-production and quality control is logarithmic and becomes more difficult as volumes increase. Similarly, 3D printing thousands of parts per day can be a challenge, but 3D printing thousands of unique parts per day takes this challenge to a whole new level. Yet production flexibility, being able to iterate designs quickly, and fully custom serialized parts are the biggest benefits of additive manufacturing. I remember walking by AM-Flow at #rapidtct 2 years ago and thinking how unique it was to not be a #3dprinter that was slightly faster or better (not that those are bad things). Instead, it was a genuinely innovate technology that focused on the real root problems of scaling additive manufacturing - complicated workflows, post production, and quality control. One of the things I like most about the system is that it is independent and not tied to a specific OEMs ecosystem. This has made it relatively easy to integrate with our custom manufacturing execution system (MES). It's also important because it allows i-SOLIDS to run our #fdm print farm with the same level of quality and process control as our industrial #sls and #mjf technologies.
