🔬 HYPOTHESIS: we've overengineered the hiring process to within an inch of its life. What if instead.... It just took 3 bullet points? Hiring? Give me these 3 answers and I'll give you 3 candidates. No role title. No job descriptions. No CV's. No fluff. 1. Geography: location / remote? 2. Expertise required: EG: background in payments and/or cross-border payments 3. Problem to be solved: EG: take our small product team from 0-1 and then from 1-10 Worst case? Your company gets seen by a few thousand eyes Best case? You find your next catalyst hire with zero headache You're just here for the experiment? Cool! Drop a comment and/or tag everyone you know who's hiring!! This is a great idea- but don't forget to ask them the salary range. Nothing more annoying than not knowing the salary range as a job hunter. (I always see it as a red flag they want to get the person for as little as possible if there is no salary listed.)
I LOVE this idea. Asking questions about the problems to be solved, and how I might be able to specifically address them is massively helpful, and that's often been the strategy I've used to help me land great roles before. For me, that gets directly to the heart of needs, and is a thousand times more relevant than a job description that lists the same stuff for 90% of the same jobs.
I LOVE this. I’ve been self-employed for a decade, and these questions feel so similar to how I talk with prospective clients to see if we’re a match. I’ve been job searching for a full time role for the first time and have found the experience jarring…I much prefer your questions and agree an approach like this would cut through so much unnecessary complication!
yes! you're so right. Susanna Williams and I were talking yesterday about how broken the hiring process is. I might add company values to the list as #4 - so the candidates can weed out companies that aren't a fit from the get-go
Generally Curious to see how this goes 🍿
Imagining the hiring process as LESS of a process 💭 💭
I’d say many (most?) companies probably have a really hard time to state what the problem to be solved is. Which, of course, doesn’t help simplify the hiring process one iota!

4moI largely agree with your hypothesis but I’m not sure this fixes that; this is top of funnel no?
