I have a pet project idea and I'm curious if anyone is already working on something similar. 🐱🐶 I want to explore how current AI capabilities could help reunite lost pets with their owners, particularly in Queens, NYC, where I live. I frequently see posts about missing cats and dogs, as well as "found" pet posts. However, these animals can travel across neighborhoods and even boroughs, making it challenging to connect lost pet posts with found pet posts, even with consistent hashtagging and sharing. Instead of creating a new platform for people to share lost pet posts, I'm wondering if there are ways to leverage existing computer vision technologies on platforms like Instagram. This could involve fuzzy matching missing pets with found pets and aggregating missing pet information in a central space, such as a single Instagram account that links back to the original content it mines. I believe this presents an interesting and ethical use case for "mining" data on social media platforms. As someone who volunteers with local animal rescues and deeply cares about our furry friends, I'm genuinely committed to finding ways to use emerging tech to keep pets safe and healthy in our communities. In Response to Other Dogs or People Yawning: Yawning can be contagious among dogs, just as it is in humans. If a dog sees another dog or a person yawning, it might yawn in response. When They Are Excited: Sometimes dogs yawn when they are overly excited or anticipating something fun, like a walk or playtime.
