💧 Did you know that groundwater can be made artificially? 💧 Yes, by utilizing Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR), you can. The biggest MAR site in Finland is located in a beautiful Virttaankangas esker in south-western Finland. In Virttaankangas pre-treated surface water from river Kokemäki is infiltraded to the ground with a production capacity of 65 thousand cubic meters per day. Professor Prabhat Kumar Singh from Indian Institute Of Technology(BHU),Varanasi visited Virttaankangas yesterday. Thank you Aki Artimo for hosting us. Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) / Geologian tutkimuskeskus (GTK), together with Turun Seudun Vesi Oy - Turku Region Water Ltd and Finnish Water Forum believe that MAR would be the solution to water scarcity internationally. Sitting in your car on the ship that’s going down the Three Gorges Dam is an insane experience! The Three Gorges Dam is a hydroelectric gravity dam that spans the Yangtze River by the town of Sandouping, located in the Yiling District of Yichang, in Hubei province, China. It is the world’s largest power station in terms of installed capacity (22,500 MW). The dam is a remarkable piece of engineering, featuring a series of locks to facilitate ship navigation across the dam and a ship lift that was completed in 2016. It has significantly contributed to China’s energy mix, reducing coal consumption and thereby cutting down on pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Zambia Launches Nationwide Aerial Survey to Uncover Mineral Wealth President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia has officially launched a nationwide high-resolution aerial geophysical survey aimed at uncovering the country’s hidden geological assets. This initiative utilizes advanced airborne geophysical technology to identify mineral and water resources, significantly reducing exploration costs and fostering new investment opportunities. This ambitious project is part of the government’s broader strategy to unlock Zambia’s untapped mineral wealth, with the ultimate goal of reaching 3 million tonnes of copper production by 2031. The detailed mapping effort will enhance exploration and help accurately determine the market value of Zambia’s mineral resources, enabling more informed and beneficial transactions. President Hichilema urged the Zambian people to support this initiative, highlighting its potential to create jobs and drive economic growth across the nation.
