Let’s talk about Mental Health and break the stigma.
At NAMI, we embrace the voices of lived experience while using numbers to illustrate the broader impact of mental health conditions on individuals, families, and communities. It's important to remember that every number represents unique stories from people navigating their mental health journeys. Whether you are a person with lived experience who wants to see yourself in the data, a student researching mental health conditions, or just someone who wants to learn more, NAMI’s Mental Health By The Numbers is here to help: nami.org/mhstats.

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day, and the theme for 2024-26, “Changing the Narrative on Suicide,” is a powerful call to action. For too long, the topic of suicide has been shrouded in silence and stigma. It’s time to shift the narrative—acknowledging the struggles people face and empowering them with the support they need. We must replace fear with understanding and isolation with connection. In these challenging times, it’s more important than ever to break down the barriers that prevent open dialogue about mental health. Every conversation can be a step toward healing, and every act of kindness can make a difference. Start the conversation. Whether it’s a check-in with a colleague, a heart-to-heart with a friend, or an open discussion within our communities, these conversations are the first step in changing lives. Together, we can create a world where mental health is prioritized, and everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. Let’s commit to being part of the change. Let’s start talking. #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #ChangingTheNarrative #StartTheConversation #MentalHealthMatters
