COMPLIANCE WITH NFPA 70E STANDARD ON Electrical5 HAZARDS. The NFPA 70E standard is a crucial guideline for ensuring electrical safety in the workplace. Compliance with this standard involves several key practices aimed at protecting employees from electrical hazards such as shock, arc flash, and arc blast. Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify electrical hazards and implement appropriate control measures. This includes evaluating the potential for arc flash and establishing boundaries to ensure worker safety. Training and Qualification: Ensure all employees who work with or near electrical equipment are properly trained and qualified. Training should cover the identification of electrical hazards, safe work practices, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency response procedures. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Provide and enforce the use of appropriate PPE for all employees exposed to electrical hazards. PPE includes flame-resistant clothing, insulated gloves, face shields, and other gear designed to protect against arc flash and electric shock. Safe Work Practices: Implement and enforce safe work practices such as lockout/tagout procedures, proper maintenance of electrical equipment, and adherence to established safety protocols. Ensure all electrical installations and repairs are performed by qualified personnel in accordance with NFPA 70E requirements. Documentation and Compliance: Maintain thorough documentation of safety training, risk assessments, PPE distribution, and compliance with NFPA 70E standards. Regularly review and update safety procedures to reflect changes in regulations and workplace conditions. By adhering to the NFPA 70E standard, organizations can significantly reduce the risk of electrical incidents, ensuring a safer work environment for all employees.

Distinguishment by Service to Others In the private security industry, all too often there is a lack of respect for what these exceptional people do daily. As an owner, my reputation depends on providing my clients with exceptional people willing to do a difficult job, that is disrespected by so many, due to the unprofessionalism displayed by others. The most rewarding part of my job is hiring the best available talent, and the client feedback of “your people are not like the other security we’ve had!”. As a company we live by the credo “Excellence is the Standard, Not the Goal!”, which distinguishes every one of our officers and our company from the competition. Some say our officers are overtrained, but how can you be overprepared for a crisis? The strength of what we do is the motivation of our team to serve others, professionally and with great care. The pride that shows through every time they put on our uniform and wear it proudly to serve our clients and their community. 99% of the time, our work is uneventful and mind numbing, but the preparation our officers put into that 1% when crisis has arisen and they need to respond, quickly, professionally and without hesitation is where we shine! The hours of company required training, and attention to detail is what they do to prepare. Execution is what is required. Our approach to the job is like that of a Lion, majestic, beautiful, graceful, protector of their pride, strong, smart, and prepared to react quickly and with great power when need be. You rarely hear the Lion roar, yet when you see them, you know the potential outcome should that Lion feel they need to react to danger.

How do you recruit great people? We talk about this a lot at Greenlite and have adopted a “continuous recruitment” approach. Rather than just recruit when we need more team members, we now recruit all of the time … for great people. That way, when great people come along, we either have a role ready or we will soon. Any tips you have learnt about recruitment? In case you know of any, we need six additional electricians!
