🎺 Exciting news, at the fundraisers I cover I'm introducing a new segment called "I Wish." where guests can make fundraising requests during the event 🎺 Here’s why I believe "I Wish" will be a game-changer for fundraising: Enhanced Engagement: By allowing guests to share their personal fundraising wishes, we create a deeper connection between the audience and the charity, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose. Immediate Impact: Real-time fundraising requests mean immediate action. Guests can see their wishes being addressed on the spot, creating powerful moments of collective generosity and instant gratification. Increased Participation: The interactive nature of "I Wish" encourages more attendees to get involved. Whether they’re donating or simply sharing a wish, everyone becomes an active participant in the event’s success. Boosted Fundraising Totals: The excitement and immediacy of fulfilling live wishes can inspire higher donations. When guests see others’ wishes being granted, it often motivates them to contribute more generously. I’m excited to see how "I Wish" helps the fundraising total at my future events 😊 #Fundraising #Nonprofit #charityevent #fundraiser #fundraisingtips

What’s the main thing the public wants in a fundraising event? Fun. That’s what we’ve learned from our new Donor Pulse report, which launched today. The appetite for fundraising events in 2024 is healthy. 44% say they’re likely to get involved in one this year. A further 10% say they’re open to it. And there’s nothing that says raising money for a good cause has to be a chore. 53% of people described their ideal charity event as fun. 40% want it to be sociable. I think the public is trying to tell us something. You don’t have to scroll for long to find a bad news story at the moment. When that’s what’s surrounding us, it’s no surprise that some levity and time with friends and family is high on the agenda for many. At their best, fundraising events are a celebration of humanity. The charities that can tap into that look set for success in 2024. Let me know if you’re hearing the same in your conversations with fundraisers 👇 Get your free copy of Donor Pulse here: https://lnkd.in/e2ry4X7j #DigitalFundraising #FundraisingEvents #DonorPulse

Turning fundraising strategy into action | Public Fundraising | Supporter Experience | Projects | Products | Facilitation | Hosting
SO many of the fundraising teams I work with tell me that they're keen to reach/engage with a younger audience, briefing in the need for products and campaigns to engage with Gen Z and beyond. But for fundraisers the perceived need to "get 'em young" can be an unhelpful distraction. Guys, it's a depressing fact that young people have NO money. Sure, this reality is really sh*t if you're paying off mammoth student debt as you watch your prospects of home ownership evaporate whilst your salary fails to keep up with the cost of living in the 16th most expensive country in the world... But for fundraisers this is GREAT news (for now). It's the over 40s (and really, over 55s) who have the financial power to support your org, whether that's through personal giving, or mobilising their networks through fundraising. So, you can stop fretting about producing quirky TikTok content, agonising about how truly "authentic" your comms are, tying yourself in knots to demonstrate your social responsibility at every touchpoint. This older audience want to see great stories about the impact they can have, served to them where they are (Facebook, oldskool print, and even *gasp* direct mail) - and you're already great at doing that, right? Let your marcomms colleagues worry about engaging younger people in your brand whilst you focus on the very important job of raising the actual funds your org relies on to do its work.
Do you know who gives what to charity? This chart is a simplified version of a presentation we use at Bluefrog to try and get fundraisers to consider which audiences they should focus on when developing fundraising strategies. It's all self explanatory, but acts as a handy device to remind you who is giving and how wealthy they are (so what their potential is). You'll see it includes lifetime and end of life giving so it's useful for legacy fundraisers as well as IG. All figures are estimates as the age profiles of various research reports don't match the named generational cohorts, but it's not a million miles out. We obviously have loads of extra qualitative and quantitative data behind the chart, but thought it might be useful to share this simplified version more widely. Edit: If you'd like a larger version, you can get it here: https://lnkd.in/e7YCGYBQ #fundraising #fundraisingstrategy #legacyfundraising

Nonprofit Champion | Resource Development | Leadership Coaching | Board Development | Strategy | Organizational development
Another way to think about your nonprofit is like a close group of besties. When someone needs help, everyone jumps in because they care. That’s what peer-to-peer fundraising is all about! When your supporters start fundraising for you, it’s like they're making a pinky swear with friends and family to support a cause they believe in. This pinky swear is powerful because it’s coming from someone they trust. Just like best friends showing up for each other, this network of support brings in new donors who might not have known about us otherwise. With peer-to-peer fundraising, you build a loyal and passionate community. These fundraisers become your ambassadors, spreading the word and making your mission personal for even more people. It’s like growing your circle of besties, each one making a pinky swear to support you and get others on board. ➕ Reach more people! 💪 Build stronger connections! 🚀 Boost your impact! Limited resources often hinder sports organisations from implementing impactful philanthropic initiatives. Effective philanthropy is not always about the size of the budget but rather the creativity, collaboration, and strategic allocation of resources. Maximize the impact of your philanthropic efforts by leveraging partnerships, in-kind donations, and volunteer support. Look for opportunities to collaborate and learn from other people organisations to identify resources and expertise. By thinking creatively and working collaboratively, you can achieve meaningful results even with limited resources. One of the most powerful tools in my auctioneer toolkit is the ability to make people *feel* the cause they’re supporting. 💡 When running a pledge at a charity fundraiser, it's not just about asking for donations—it's about creating a vivid experience that connects deeply with the audience. At a recent event for a homeless charity, I used a simple yet effective technique: I asked the guests to close their eyes and imagine what it would be like to be homeless. No warm bed, no safe space, no certainty of the next meal. 🏠❌ This moment of reflection changed the entire mood in the room. You could sense the empathy grow, and it led to pledges pouring in. 🙌 The key is this: when people can emotionally connect with the cause, they feel compelled to help in any way they can. 🌟 This approach is one I highly recommend for any charity auctioneer or event planner looking to maximise impact. The result? We smashed the fundraising target and made a real difference for those in need. 💪 #FundraisingTip #CharityEvent #AuctioneerLife #auctioneer #NonProfitFundraising #Pledges #Empathy
