Community College Students: The deadline to apply for Mission 1 of the NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS) is June 10! NCAS has 3 sequential missions. Mission 1 is a 5-week, self-paced online course. Students will gain a broad knowledge of what NASA has in its current plan and how they can play a role. STEM based activities embedded in the online course include live and recorded subject matter expert lectures, interactive multimedia on NASA content, interactions with fellow aerospace scholars, knowledge assessments including a final project, and guidance and support from trained professional educators. To complete the NCAS application: 1. Sign up or Log in to the NASA STEM Gateway. 2. Explore Opportunities for College STEM Experiences. 3. Apply for NCAS Mission 1: Discover. You will need to provide: - Contact information. - Community college transcripts (official or unofficial) must include the following: - - Your name. - - Your school’s name. - - 9 credits of college STEM courses, either completed or in-progress. - - Proof of current enrollment. - 300-word (max) explanation of why you want to participate in NCAS. As the Fall 2023 semester wraps up, preparations begin for Spring 2024. I will be teaching an introductory course to #systemsengineering (SIE 250) for our sophomore students at the University of Arizona. I am VERY excited about this one! I hope to share updates as the next semester unfolds. But for now, things that will come to the classroom: - the LEGO Group Mindstorms --> We go for #handsonlearning to achieve awareness of the importance of systems engineering. NASA 👩🏽🚀 initiated the National Space Grant College and Fellowship Project, also known as Space Grant, in 1989. Space Grant is a national network of colleges and universities. These institutions are working to expand opportunities for Americans to understand and participate in NASA’s aeronautics and space projects. The Space Grant fund fellowships and scholarships for students pursuing careers in science, mathematics, engineering and technology, or STEM. We are over the moon 🌑🌙 to be working with the Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium to evaluate the program. We're opening a new PhD position in my group at the CNRS IRL2958 GT-CNRS in Metz, France. Link here: https://lnkd.in/eRm2bG7B This PhD thesis will be conducted in collaboration with the French Naval Academy (Ecole Navale), engineering school ENSTA Bretagne and IFREMER, within a project named SAWASP. In this project, we will develop a demonstrator of a autonomous surface vessel using a combination of two Flettner rotors as "sails" and two vertical axis propellers (VAP) for manoeuvring and drift compensation (illustration below, from the SAWASP partners). In this context, this PhD position will work on the modelling and deployment of Reinforcement Learning (RL) policies for manoeuvrer control (holding position, following trajectories, docking, man-over-board recovery) of this non-conventional propulsion, as well as a fine-tuning of the VAP controllers. This PhD will have to address sim-to-real transfer challenges and will require both an understanding of the mechanics of fluid interaction for simulation and the RL framework. Testing will be conducted in a test setup operated by IFREMER, and on a demonstrator developed by the French Naval Academy and ENSTA Bretagne. 🤖 ⛵ 🚤

Glad to share that I completed Digitalization in Aeronautics and Space Specialization, and it was a 6 month specialization which consists of three courses Digitalization in Aerospace Industry, Digitalization in Space Research, and Digitalization in Aeronautics. Technical University of Munich, Munich Aerospace conducted this specialization and lectures of professors were interesting for them who want to do research in aerospace. #digitalization #TUM #aerospaceengineering #specialization
