Open networks make it very easy for people to peek into your activity and accounts, and the people you share the network with may also be using compromised devices. Do not log in on personal accounts while using free or public Wi-Fi. #PersonalDataisPrivate #DataPrivacyUG

This one may be easier said than done, we know — here’s looking at those of you who have to support dozens of old devices and browsers. However, if you have the ability to: stop supporting older, insecure browsers and devices. Prompt your users to update, upgrade, or patch before they continue. The more old technology we have to support, the harder it gets to stay secure in every situation. Here is an internet safety tip for you during this Internet Safety Month. Public Wi-Fi and hotspots are unsecure, which means that anyone could potentially see what you are doing on your laptop or smartphone while you are connected to them. Limit what you do on public Wi-Fi. Especially avoid logging in to key accounts like email and financial services. Consider using a virtual private network (VPN) or a personal/mobile hotspot if you need a more secure connection. #WaypointBank #InternetSafetyMonth #CyberAware

Privacy tip: always keep a VPN running on your computer, tablet, and phone at all times. Enable the kill switch that disrupts your internet connection if your VPN is disconnected. Sacrifice some speed degradation for privacy, mainly when companies use your browsing to profile you and ultimately push more ads.

Fellow Android users: I recommend you go into your Mobile Network settings and turn off the "Allow 2G" toggle. This option, added in Android 12 back in 2021 is turned ON by default. This setting does exactly what it sounds like: it turns off support for 2G cellular networking. Why turn it off? Because there is evidence that hackers are now using the insecure 2G protocol to spoof phone numbers and send SMS spam with harmful links. Most carriers do not even use 2G anymore and your phone will still use the 2G network during an emergency call if needed.
